Car Cleaning

Post by s29ttc » Tue Sep 29, 2009 1:29 pm

After admiring the black exige finish Ali achieved with the blackfire products its got me thinking to change over and try new products. Currently I use Meguiars NXT wax.

Been looking at buying this Blackfire wax:

Also when reading came across this alternative but can't seen to work out which would be better:

Anyone able to shed any light on what would be the best product to go for :cheers

I could by all means have left it in General, but I think you were looking for actual advice, rather than to be told you're a pussy for spending money on fancy waxes, etc.

Which you are, but at least this is the more friendly section towards that tendency

I too was prompted to look at buying some Blackfire wax after seeing the Exige pics - then I saw it was £81 a tin  , so will stick with fairy liquid and 'picked up sponge' :? (well Autoglym then)

As winter is coming it might be worth looking at a more durable wax. A popular wax is Collinite, it lasts ages but you lose out slightly on the shine. I tried Auto glym HD wax as i heard great things about it, and was very impressed. Make sure you clay your car first as this give the wax a better surface to bond to. I applied hd to mine last winter and it was still protecting 5 months later. It also doesn't lose much shine either. A quick top up with Zaino Z8 after washes keeps it looking 8)

The blackfire I use isn't a wax. Not sure about Ally, but the Polished Bliss people told me to use this followed by this.
Now we discussed waxes as I have Zymol carbon wax but they reccon that modern polymers are better and easier to use than waxes. Also the Blackfire cannot be used on top of a wax.
Very easy and quick to use.

I am using Valentines Wax ( http://www.valentineswax.com/ ) as recommended by the guy who does my cars.
Apart from looking FAB, it is the most straight forward stuff in the world to use ... rub on, rub off .. done!! Car waxed in 15 mins.
The Company owner is on PH and there is a decent discount (15% I think plus free P&P) for the asking.
I had the £7k Royale on the F355 at one point but it was a wee bit like looking at the Emperors New Clothes to be honest.
