Renting a tow car

Post by offshorematt » Thu Apr 01, 2010 7:22 pm

Anybody know where I could rent a tow car? (or 4x4, truck, minbus...whatever  )

Picking up a car in Birmingham on Sunday but the Trooper we were collecting it with has been called in for a safety recall and the parts aren't available till next week.

Someone has told me that none of the rental companies allow you to tow - there must be exceptions!

Or if any SE'ers have something they don't need for the day, just name me a price

Cheers!

http://www.4x4hirescotland.co.uk definitely have ranges/discos and defenders with towbars.

The owner Euan knows my FiL and will remember me (they painted the Elige for me)

Matt - give me a call this evening on ***** ******.

Alternatively, if someone has Matt's number, perhaps they could text it to me.

Cheers,

Eric :)

Thanks for the feedback (and the text, Eric).

Sorted now - for reference, if any of the aberdeen lot are looking for a tow car, Clark Commercials do a van with towbar for £50/day. Unlimited mileage and happy for you to use it a towing vehicle.

Result :thumbsup

Picked up an ex-race Tiger Avon. Bit rough round the edges but mechanically seems sound and all things going well, should be great fun for trackdays and the odd sprint/hillclimb (without remortaging to pay for consumables... )

Went halvies with a work colleague that currently rallies but is always open to yet another way to waste money on cars  To be honest it was a steal at the price.

Will post some pics when I recover from today's 18hrs / 900miles round trip. Right now, I need a beer :thumbsup
