Also usually a good idea to bin the free router supplied by the isp and get a proper one. Got fed up rebooting my superhub weekly and since replacing it with an Asus AC68u, I rarely have to reboot and my speeds went up substantially too.. as well as better range etc etc

with you here, AC68U is a great choice, almost bomb-proof

bet it was not tri-band 3x3 wifi etc...

the Asus has by far the best wifi out the box I have ever played with for speed, range and number of simultaneous clients.

BTs routers are piss poor, and they won't admit it.
We got fibre installed, 75mbps apparently. Lucky if we were getting 40 most of the time, sometimes less at busy periods. They done every check known to them, but still said, router is fine

Got sick of it, went and purchased an apple airport Extreme. From the moment it was plugged in, 75mbps, and it's generally not dropped much lower, also with a 18-20mbps upload.

The same happened with Sky, we were getting no where near our allocated, why we moved to BT. Sadly we are not eligible for Virgin. My parents have it, and its super fast even compared to my fibre.

BT broadband is pants with or without their 'home-hub' sh*t...

varies a bit, but they do tend to run at the limits of reasonable contention.

Back on the original topic (sort of..) what sort of come back do you have if you don't get close to the advertised speeds?
I appreciate they say "up to" but surely if you are getting 75% less, you should have some comeback / ability to cancel?
