The 135 had a different head to the standard car, with the VVC inlet plenum (but not VVC head), and larger throttle body.

One of the Rover 160VVC design engineers was on seloc the other day claiming the standard plastic inlet manifold is actually better for torque and won't strangle power until around 175bhp. It's just too tight a fit against the VVC mechs WRT productionisation for the line.

Correct. It's about columns of moving air, according to Robin :-)

I was just being curious as my K was 200bhp which (in caterham circles) is roughly the point where anything more requires regular refresh/rebuilds...
Caterham Exhaust is a lot less restrictive (cos it can just poke out the side of the car!). I'd bet the 190bhp is harder to get in an Elise engine bay than 200 in a cat.
Ok fair point - does the 190 lotus have RBTBs?

Roller barrel? No. Titan butterfly valved direct-to-heads. Really, really early ones used Rover KV6 TBs with swan-neck inlet manifolds to match up the ports.

My anorak only has a big 7 on it

Shug - mine had roller barrels (caterham branded) but agree there was little restriction on the exhaust side (long primaries, decat, repackable silencer which had long unpacked :blackeye )

Hey that's my 135!!

I put it on Pistonheads as a half hearted attempt at selling. I only added the pics to the ad a couple of days ago.

The car has been painted on one side a few years back. I think the receipt for the work is still in with the service history. I bought the car from Ed and he seemed to know the car's history from new. The number plate ends FUG.

Anyhow, my girlfriend refuses to go in the car so it's just not getting enough use for me to justify keeping it.... But with zero depreciation I'm not convinced about selling it either, hence the half hearted ad. If it doesn't sell easily then it could be a life time keeper for me.

Oh, and I added the black stoneguard as the clear film was yellowing. And yes, I've still to do the other side!!
