arrghh...not having a good day cop advice needed
First I curbed my alloy this morning , now I have been pulled AGAIN but apparently this time for a reason . Anyway here it goes , gave the car a little burst on the main st , prob up to maybe 35tuts at most , in first gear so yes it was loud. Cop few cars behind me pulls me over . He is in a ordinary cop car (no camera) and is by himself (no partner). He asks how many points I have to which i reply "3", he says well this will make you lose your licence for dangerous driving. He takes me in back of car and takes my details name address etc. He tells me he doesnt need my documents as they have copies in the office (already been pulled 4 times for nowt). So thats that , he doesnt read me my rights , issue horte or anything just says "you will be up at court for that " and lets me go . Before I leave I questioned the fact that he is by himself and has apparently just done me with no evidence at all . He replys well its my word against someone's with 3 points on his licence.
anyone know were I stand with this ? Can he really charge me ?
okay so i had a little burst of speed but its arguable wither or not i broke the speed limit , I am sure everyone on this board enjoys the same occasional blat , thats why we drive the cars we do !

I was almost certain they would need a second officer to charge me perhaps someone could clarify this for me ?
I have not had a good history with the barrhead police , the first 2 times I was pulled i was reasonable with them ,but after the 3rd I let off a little steam and pointed out the inconvenience they were causing me . I think they all know of me in the office now , I did ask them to put a word round that I had been checked out already.
Some officers I have been decentt enough with me and really interested in the car , but a few have been right barsteward and came across the type that would take great pleasure in swiping my licence from me .

Sorry, wee chuckle to myself...especially when I think of this post:

Don't suppose the copper was driving a white Exige

Anyway, 3 rules of defence:
1) Deny
2) Deny
3) Deny

Obviously I hope you dont get your licence taken away since that would be "bad karma" and it is unlikely we will ever be on the same stretch of road. But, if you were driving down MY local Main Street as described, or swishing right across a road near me because you thought you would drive like an ar$$ then I might be pleased that the police showed you a bit more attention. If i am being honest , i dont think the slicks are as bad in the wet as everyone makes out , as long as you arent driving like a maniac they are fine , however the other day this little prick was up my arse in a golf gti ......"i'll show him" i thought ......doing bout 70 in 5th, i droped it into 3rd and done a big swishy swashy right across the road , totally shat my self amost hit another car , let the dooshbag through before nailing it past him on the next straight oh and it was raining
anyway I have had a few scares but only when driving silly

Cool cool , expected the patronising posts about how I "should" drive anyway .
I realise now that meatball is an officer , I am fairly new to the board i do not know everyones occupation!! gies a break !
anyway an exige driving cop, would suggest a cop with a passion for cars and a decent bloke . I dont see what the fuss is about posting on a forum about our driving manners , not unless meatball is one of those power trip cops who is a "cut above the public" and constantly policing everyone even off duty ! I have a great deal of respect for most of the police force and appreciate the job they do , however some do fall into this category
meatball doesnt come across like that......
so is it cool to post that i was 5mph over the limit or what ?
Anyway I am being made out to be a cnut of a driver here !! I am not alright ! I dont constantly drive like a nutter , the occasion were i slid across the road was horrible , it wasnt intentional still getting used to driving this beast .

Without getting on your case too much I have to agree with Jim, is there really any need to be redlining 1st in town? Just gets the wrong attention.
As far as I know Police in Scotland do not need corroboration (speeling?) in court the word of the Polis will be taken over the defendent.
I dont think anything will come of it but seeing as you have been pulled several times already its clear you're a marked man.

it's your word against his your 3 points are irrelevent I wouldn't worry, let them take you to court if the fiscal let it go that far he didn't charge you or read you your rights so I wouldn't worry.
You could chance your arm and put in a complaint about harrasment but it's maybe better if you don't push it. anyway I'm sure I saw you and you where not going fast or driving dangerously I would have stopped and said hi but I was in a hurry

Didn't mean to appear patronising. If you read what I wrote you will see that how you drive is unlikely to affect me so to that exent I aint fussed how you do it. On the other hand its hardly surprising that the police are fussed, and, if you did live closer then I would be pleased that they were fussed.j33ama wrote:Cool cool , expected the patronising posts about how I "should" drive anyway .

Generally we post speed in that unique SE unit of measurement that is TUTS, we all know the conversion ratio to mph but any snooping plod do not.j33ama wrote:so is it cool to post that i was 5mph over the limit or what ?

Its not that you were speeding that people are picking up on but the raggin it in town. IIRC you have a stage 2 exhaust, I had one myself and its asking for trouble revving the bollocks of it in town. I tend to keep mine below 4000 revs in built up areas as its too easy to gain attention and be accused of speeding just because I am making a lot of noise.
