240 cup first day.
I had a long day on Friday.
Collected the trailer from a friend went to work and loaded the 340r. It is getting Defendall covered in Perth. Turned up at Defendall to meet Russell (the owner) and to have a look round his new showroom. Russell used to race Morgan’s and has now taken on the dealership for Scotland. Morgan’s are not really my cup of tea, but if you’re into cars then it is interesting all the same. I will want a shot in his new Aero 8 (think it has the V8 m3 engine fitted) when it arrives, but its £70k +. http://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/sales/new ... _FINAL.pdf
I then headed down to Glasgow to collect the 240 cup. After seeing the cup the week before I was a bit apprehensive as it had been raining and by the time Stuart had driven it up from Glasgow it was dirty and didn’t look its best. Turned up and he had one of his guy’s wash it, it looked the dogs and was very tidy indeed, he had also filled it up with fuel.
On the trailer then spent the next 2 hours sitting in traffic up to KH. M8 + Kincardine Bridge. Turned up at Kh and really didn’t have time to take the car for a spin on the road, so I was just going to have to take it easy for a while to get used to it. Cough, Well that really didn’t happen and after about 4-5 laps I came up behind Massa and Cisco? (red Exige S) followed them for about 3-4 laps. I was on 39’s so had a little advantage as well as a bit more power. The cup was in its element in these conditions, all these fancy toy’s (abs – traction control (yes I was a woose and never switched the tc off)) The car itself is very easy to drive compared to the 340r especially in the wet. You can hit the brakes as hard as you want and the ABS does it all for you, saying that it did take me well over an hour to have the confidence to do so. The power delivery of the 240 is great, not too dissimilar to the Honda v-tec, very smooth indeed. The tc is a bit of a cheat as you could come out of the corner floor it, the limiter comes in and you can just hold it with a small bit of opposite lock and off you go. The car is fitted with a Stage 2(I will change it at a later date for a 2bular) and its loud. I then had to trailer it up to Cullen 11.45 before I got in, but a couple of glasses of red then off to bed. What a great start to a car ownership.
