Hello East Lothian

Post by DJ » Wed Jun 17, 2009 10:16 am

Could hardly have picked a worse day to move house as it's absolutely chucking it down and has been all morning. Moving over a couple of days and by the end of the week it will be goodbye Polmont and hello East Lothian. Keeping out the way just now whilst the removal guys do their thing. 5 and a half years ago when I last moved I said 'never again' and now I remember why. The amount of cr4p you store up and stuff you have to organise...

Elise should be joining me at the weekend, so once all the boxes are unpacked and stuff like that, I'll be seeking out the best roads in the area for some summer evening runs. Any fellow EL-ers have any good road suggestions ?

Know how you feel, but I will be looking for max sympathy when the kids are gone and Verian decides it is time to sell and move into a two bedroom hen coop.

Hopefully though after you have all been upto my wake.

IIRC the routes across the Lammermuirs to Duns, and similar to Innerleithen, are worth a blast but maybe a bit choppy here and there.

Maybe you can do a recce and put together a day out for us all ;-)

That buzzing metropolis known as Drem where BT tell me I should be able to get broadband speeds of 'up to 0.5meg' . That probably means more like 0.2. Bit different from the 4.5meg I currently get :( so may be last post for a while...

Thanks for the road tip Campbell :thumbsup

That's like saying 'it's the dryest place at the bottom of the ocean'.

Drem eh? New bit/old bit? Just a couple miles down the road from us (and yards from Miles!).

Like Campbell says, the B6355 Gifford-Whiteadder Reservoir-Cranshaws-Duns road is good (though a couple 'jumpy' sections, and some roughly surfaced bits). My favourite run would be B6368 Haddington-Bolton-Humbie-Gilston to the A7, then cut off the A7 on the B709 Heriot-Innerleithin road (and then on to St Mary's Loch, etc)... superb :thumbsup

There's a nice wee network of local roads to discover for yourself too ...but time of day is critical!
