Very comprehensive and informative. I'm sure others more informed than me will be able to add to it.

One thing I noticed though was the last sentence in the section about brake discs doesn't quite read correctly.

Who was that directed at Greg? Must admit that I get pissed off with this posting photos business. Most of you are amateur photographers no matter how good you think you are, that now have digital cameras. A few of you are professionals who can do their own thing or put a water mark on.

What do you think that we are doing with your precious photos other than showing them to our other members on here? Selling them to the Sun? If we know where the photos come from then we credit the photographer.

For fcuks sake chill out and take it in the spirit that it is meant.

Tut - it was aimed at Scott, whom I presume pulled together the guide.

Since Scottish Elises is plastered all over it if someone that, say, owns the photographs is unhappy then they're going to come here. No skin off my nose at all, simply a heads up. Obviously not welcome, so I'll withdraw it.

Scottishselise. Its 'Scottish Elise' - its not Gareth with the spelling issue ;)

If anyone has any issues I can take it down, it was just a helping hand for people looking for an S1 as it gives a heads up on what kind of things to be looking at when buying an elise. The only reason I put Scottish elises on it was if it was used or passed on that we would increase members on here and that's the whole point of the forum IMO.... To have a large diverse group with a common interest. The reason I posted it was it's easy to send a link to any newbies to let them have a look. I apologise if it has caused issues and can delete it if it's a big problem. No I did not ask permisson nor did I even think as they are just general pictures from various sources which I found when I was researching and I collected them and made the one document. I really didn't think it would be an issue as I am only trying to help other not gain any profit. Most of the stuff is diagrams and pictures of bits of the elise not pictures I would have thought anyone would have any issues using because they clearly have been used for the purpose intended.

Tut, Greg is correct. It matters not what value _you_ attach to a photograph, if the photograph was taken from another site without the owner's permission then it's wrong.

There are many reasons for the photographer to assert ownership - for example, they may be proud of their work and want others to know it's theirs, or they may wish to control how their picture is used (for example, they may not want it to be used in commercial material), or they may be concerned about the picture being doctored, ....

It's pretty simple really - if you're using somebody's work, ask them for permission and credit them (unless they ask to remain anonymous). If they don't give permission, don't use the photograph. If you don't know (and cannot find out) who owns the picture, at least put the source you copied it from into your work.

BTW, it's a nice idea to pull together a buyer's guide - probably find that there are already very good resources out there too - possibly worth somebody merging them all together one of these days (that's not to say they're all correct!). A quick google found this:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topi ... 's%20guide.

Cheers,
Robin
