Logica recruiting for Central Scotland

Post by campbell » Thu Mar 17, 2011 1:57 pm

I once told off a fellow SE'er for posting a job ad, in the sense that I was worried it would "poach" people from an already-resource-strapped business I was managing...but in these difficult times I feel it's better to publish this and be damned than to keep it a secret so I'm about to break my own rule...

Logica is recruiting the following types of people for roles across Central Scotland:
  • Oracle Technical Consultants with skills in e.g. Java, Java EE, Web Services, Informatica, Oracle Database, PL/SQL, WebLogic, SOA, Oracle SOA, BPM.
  • Microsoft Technical consultants with skills in e.g. System Center, Active Directory. SQL, Azure
  • Client facing project and programme managers with proven stakeholder management experience
  • Business analysts
Please note that the company is hot on mobility and flexibility, so the willingness to travel away from contractual base office for days, weeks or occasionally months at a time is a must-have. I can say with over 18 years' experience of the place that this is the reality.

If you are interested, please get in touch with me on my work email - campbell dot ford at logica dot com.

Is the tide turning with the job market I wonder or have the recent flurry of positions vacant been nothing more than a temporary blip? Anyone more knowledgeable than me have any thoughts on this?

Regards,

Jeremy

You'll hopefully be getting my wives CV Campbell for the Oracle aspect of the recruitment drive! Although perhaps some issue as she may have done work for Logica before, but i'll check it out! She has been working for the same places for 13/15 years i think and needs a change.....

I'll ping you an e-mail anyway, and perhaps you can tell me more about what you're looking for!

Dave :thumbsup

Are they really? No-one tells me anything around here!

Thankfully I am not in the line of duty around resourcing and recruitment now but thought I'd do my good citizen duty and mention these opportunities.

Jeremy, Logica is notorious for "microclimates" of success (and failure) so I wouldn't treat our recruitment drive for C Scotland as anything other than temporary good news. We have simultaneously dumped c. 300 jobs across the UK. I would, however, say that Logica's operations in Scotland have grown strongly since the late 80s and demonstrate the success that the Canny Scots can bring ;-)

Speaking personally we (BSkyB) made some changes before the recession as a pre-emptive measure...........but thankfully we're one of the few companies to be growing in these difficult times. So for us it's definately not a blip, unless the Uk population start falling out with pay TV.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

In Scotland as a whole employers shed some staff quickly (as well as difficult times it was an excuse to get rid) As a result as people get busyier employers are forced to hire more staff to cope (English companies kept their staff and so Job figures look bad)

Sky has done well, everyone expected pay tv to be the first thing to go when things got tight although that probably says more about society ;)

Oil and Gas is also doing well because of the high price of oil, So i better get back and do some work.

Hi Campbell,
Hope you don'd mind. I've passed this on to a good friend who would seem to have a fair bit of experience in this field, used to work for Dell and others.
Sorry if I shouldn't have passed on but nice to look out for friends

cheers

Ali

I think there are a couple of recruitment events scheduled for Edinburgh / Glasgow over the next couple of weeks. Should be some radio and press advertising with details.
