One less MX5 on the roads.

Post by Mr Momo » Sun Aug 14, 2011 9:25 pm

We're back from a dampish, long weekend in Loch Tay, with the Yeti fully loaded with family, luggage and three bikes.

On the final stretch on the A90, I was following an MX5 when it clips the kerb on the outside lane, fishtails, hits the central reservation then careers across to the inside, hits the banking, does a full 360, then comes to a full stop, side-on against a road sign.

Somehow, i) it missed all other cars on the inside lane, ii) it stayed upright (phew - soft-top), iii) with brakes applied to a fully loaded car, I stopped just beyond the MX5 and iv) by the time I was out, the driver was somehow out and staggering along the verge.

Basically, it all turned out well, all drills followed - kids sent off up verge to wait police arrival, other cars slowed the traffic, driver shaken, wife reassuring driver whilst I was on phone, policeman very efficient, driver checked out and taken in ambulance. Some bits went like slo-mo in my mind, others completely blanked out.

Most drivers drove by too quickly, but one star lorry driver slowed everyone down - he got a thumbs up.

The irony - car came to a stop against a roadsign (now trashed) - turned the now free sign over - speed camera symbol

Ahh well - back to work tomorrow, none the worse for it.

Glad you have stopped in time :thumbsup

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.
