Salt from floor/mats/general dampness.

Looks like it has dried and left the salt deposits on the suede/alcantara.

Try removing the dry stuff first, then a warm damp cloth to remove.

Quite a severe case

I thought it might be that, but in the last 2 months I've only had a passenger in the car (the Mrs) on a couple of occasions and neither time when we had snow.

Also I drive the car everyday so it shouldn't be getting damp inside as it get 40 minutes to work and back home minimum everyday.

Just found this http://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-buyi ... rior/32021

Talk of damp in the footwells, interestingly enough I've had the AC on everyday the last few months.

Check the door pillars, bet they are wet. Its quite common for them to leak around the corner of the roof, and that soaks the floor and mats, mine done it. Craig will be able to put it right. Lotus build quality.

Saj what was the verdict?

My door seals were adjusted last year due to water dripping on the sills. Been fine ever since.

Didn't get a chance to go at lunchtime today so going to attempt a visit to MMC tomorrow now. Will update after that.

Lotus Customer Service - Shocking!!

Post by SAJ » Mon Jul 25, 2016 7:58 pm

So you'll see from the pictures at the start of this thread that the inside of my car has been in a pretty rubbish state since February this year.

I've now been waiting months for this part having chased it directly with Lotus myself as they seem to just ignore MMCs efforts of chasing it. Orginally I was expecting all to be resolved long ago having been told at the time that the centre tunnel would take 6 weeks as it was made to order. 6 weeks went by and nothing. Lotus was chased by MMC a number of times for an update until I decided enough was enough and chased Lotus myself via customer service, this was on June 8th to which I got the following response:

"Thank you for your e-mail.
On behalf of Lotus Cars Ltd, I can only sincerely apologise for any delays with our spare parts delivery service, however I can confirm that you order has now been given priority and we would hope to be able to deliver these to Murray Motor Company next week.
Again, our apologies and thank you for your patience up to this time.
"

The part was due by the 17th of June at the latest.

Come 20th June nothing had arrived, so another e-mail to Lotus Customer Service, with the following response:

"Dear Saj, Gary.
I have spoken to Aftersales and Trim who apologise but they now expect this part to be ready during next week now.
I am sorry – I’ll keep on top of them and chase this through for you.
"

So did anything come the following week, nope nothing! So after that I got busy with other things and never had a chance to chase it again but when I eventually got around to chasing it again on the 19th of July I got the following response:

"Dear Saj,
Thank you for your email and patience with this matter.
Neil Turner is away from the office until Monday the 25th of July.
I’m sure he has the matter in hand but unfortunately I am slightly out of the loop with this.
I will ask Neil to contact you on his return.
"

This really got me annoyed as if this stuff had been in hand I wouldn't be chasing it again in July, not only that I was expect to wait until today for a response. I replied back (20th July) asking for it to be esclated up the chain as I wasn't happy with how much I was having to chase this. I then got the following response:

"Hello Saj,
I will look into this straight away and find out were we are with it.
Thank you again for your patience.
Regards
Andy
"

So not sure what everyone elses idea of "straight away" is but that sets an expectation for me to have feedback the same day or the next day at the latest. But as usual no further reponse.

It is now the 25th and still radio silence from Lotus Customer service. :x

Time to write direct to Jean Marc Gales. I think it's expected that there may be delays for trim parts but not for this long and there's no excuse for poor communication.

Yep agreed on the expected time 6 weeks fine, even if it had been 12 weeks and they had told me it was going to be 12 weeks then at least I'd know and the expectation is set. To be promised next week, then next week again is just a poor show from them. In all honesty I think if I hadn't chased and said anything it would be 2017 and still nothing would have happend.

What incentive are they giving to upgrade to a newer Lotus with this kind of service.....

The ability to contact someone direct who knows the product(s) well is one of the attractions of Lotus for me. If they lose that customer service they lose the brand advantage. JMG has control over the organisation so go to him with your difficulties and concerns, and highlight your family purchases and that the future brand loyalty needs the product support.

I quite liked I'd been a customer of the same dealership for 17 years but they no longer take my calls.

Popped an e-mail off to Mr Gales today - let's see what happens.

I took my car to Allon Whites down near Bletchley ( a long way i know from Perthshire) but they re-trimmed the interior - they had the lotus Suedetex but I chose the Alcantara as a better product and very similar colour. Their service was fantastic and new door cards, centre tunnel, dash etc took them precisely 3 days (including dismantling, making up and putting back together in my car). No idea why it should take Lotus so long. Sorry to hear that.
