Actually they do offer £10 if you refer someone. I've not taken them up on it, could be a few hundred in pocket if I had. So far so good with GB, everyone I've heard who has switched has been pleasantly surprised.

Had an e-mail from them six weeks ago saying that they were increasing my unit rate by 34% so ditched them and switched to e.on.

Good deal whilst it lasted, but no such thing as loyalty nowadays.

Increased wholesale prices.

Who'd a thunk it eh.

If it sounds too good to be true - probably is :-(

£100 in credit with them, but should get it back apprently. Has a rise in price here too, but not 34%.

Was a great deal while it lasted, I was only paying £15 a month for gas and electricity over the summer. Mental!

Bit of a bugger as not the ideal time to swap. Think this may be the first time this has happened so will just have to wait and see what Ofgem does.

I'm in the process of swapping. Already switched to new supplier and was waiting for my £200 credit refund. Guess that will never be happening.

I hope so, we are £500+ in credit. We were also £700 cheaper pa than with SP so yes, too good to be true.

I'm a chunk in credit with them too. Would have preferred them to increase their prices rather than go belly up but I guess it's too late for that

I went with Extra Energy despite them not getting great customer reviews. Not really had an issue with them and were far the cheapest at the time at 9p a unit. Prices have risen quite considerably over the year so unlikely to find as good a deal this year. Saved us a lot of money over Scottish Hydro however.

Shame GB didn't survive, they only recently offered me a fixed rate switch to avoid increases. If they were unable to forward buy and protect rates, then its hard to see how they could compete with fixed rates. I did save a lot by finally deciding to switch from SSE.

On the positive side GB and others certainly seem to be making the electric market more competitive and there are now plenty similar options to switch to. Ofgen say that they will switch you with your current balance to a new supplier, so it will be a little hassle, but looks like customers are protected. Some good info here.
