Car SOS DB6 Aberdeenshire

Post by 111Robin » Mon May 29, 2017 8:45 am

Never been a great fan of this show but this one takes the biscuit. Where's the justification in restoring a (supposedly 500k car) for an oil worker with a big fancy house, a sore back (because he fell on ice), no sign of hardship, "having" to work six weeks at a time in Singapore because he lost his job !!!. Sorry but either this was completely staged or they've lost the plot.

AND....

It had to be painted again after the show because the show cut many corners.....

A friend was tasked with the second re-spray. Looked stunning when completed.

I think I'll write in. I cut my finger with the angle grinder last week and my 230k mile Mk4 Golf is very tatty. Surely a worthy cause going by their recent efforts.

Haven't seen the show, but I guess a lot of it is down to the opportunity to get something like a DB6 on the show rather than the owner being particularly deserving. No offence meant Robin, but I don't see as many people tuning in to watch your mk4 Golf getting the treatment had you taken both arms off with the angle grinder ;)
I usually fast forward through the 'soap' bits and stick with the car bits anyway.

I'm sure I remember someone either on here or SELOC saying they knew the owner and that they show was coming up. May have been another forum mind.

It's true, I guess they'd struggle to find any DB6 to restore so the story would always be secondary. Just hit a raw nerve given my own situation that's all. I wouldn't watch any programme about working on a Mk4 Golf, it's dull enough without that :)

Maybe it's time for a return of Pimp My Ride, starting with the Golf then ;)

I'm afraid the only worthy makeover would be a bin bag wrap.
