Yes see http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... =2&t=38430

Will be in pics and comments on the forum from parko from various SE runs around 2012.
Car should be mechanically sound, body not quite so good as mentioned.

Ian is a good guy (must be the name :D ) he took a look over my 111r and helped put the missing bits back together after Ali 'returned it to me' after a service that ended up requiring a new engine.

It'd not be that car at that price I'm afraid, No MOT or Service History and CAT D needing a full respray, it's been sitting for some time so will most likely need gentle recommissioning and a C service so all in cost I'm guessing to get it back to tip top say £21K.. Non cat registered cars needing nothing, pampered with full history and 40K miles are £23K so that one does not look like good value when a CAT D should see a third off the value, I'd say all fixed up it'd only be worth the current asking price. To me that's worth no more than my current Boxster, £12-13K, at that I'd possibly do a swap and be prepared to spend £3-5K getting her up to scratch. Full respray depending of amount of repairs/blisters £2500-£3000, Full C Service and all fluids changed etc £500+, possible discs and pads £350, any bushes/ball joints req, £300? Suspension if needed, £800-£1200. Has an Elise roof not Exige so another £700? Tyres as it's not been used much if at all since 2013 £600...MOT advisory on misting shocks and Engine management light on so lambda sensor at least and shocks... all adds up and it's still a CAT D with no history at all, has providence on here due to it being known but that wouldn't help resale...

I think your armchair repair costs are a bit unfair Mark.

How much would you think to get her up to scratch? :thumbsup

that was all forgetting about the air conditioning which you'd need on a day like today lol

I can't see anyone doing a full respray and repair any defects less than £3k so it's almost £20k deep before anything else and non recorded cars are only £3K more, at that money I'd be buying one with full service records and no damage cat status...

What out of curiousity would any one value the car at as is and what budget to repair? I can't see it all repaired as a CAT D with no history being worth any more than £17K?

I agree that your repair budget is a little out there. I mean it's only been sitting 9 months. My Elise basically sits for 6 months over winter and doesn't come out needing a C service, tyres, bushes, discs and pads.
Ok, with the lack of history, you'll want a C service for piece of mind.
I'd say it's not likely to need any more suspension components / bushes etc than any other 40k mile 2006 Exige is though.
Similarly, the Elise roof might be a problem to you, but it's just a modified part, like the harnesses and roll cage.

All that said however, I do agree that it seems advertised at strong money considering the situation. Providence here or not, it's a £16.5k car with no MOT or Service History which has been sitting for some time, which make you wonder what else was ignored about it, and that's before CAT D / full respray.

You can make the maths simpler and it still doesn't make sense..
If it is worth £24k as a non cat car then it's probably worth around 19k as a cat car. 16.5k + paint is more than that.

I think this car is for someone who wants a small project for a fun road / track can and can live with the paint being bad.

I would think its priced at £16.5k with an aim to get somewhere north of £15k. Everyone bids you down on a private sale, at least between 5-10% of asking price. So, assume £15.5 purchase and it starts to look OK. Would need to know why it was Cat D write off but wouldn't bother me in particular having resurrected one write off that is still going strong.
Mark, bit harsh on the costs for getting back on the road, that said why has it got a spare engine that he felt the need to repair.

I'm sure Parko posted about that if you can be bothered reading his past posts.
