Came across my dream garage
Came across my dream garage
I was out at Morrison Motors in Turriff today looking at a RR sport or SQ5 for Lesley today.
When I arrived the chap was straight out having a look at the Type 49, he was telling me he also has a very low mileage Azure S1 Elise. After a short conversation I was left to have a look at his 4x4 stock without any pressure.
I was looking at a Macan S then notice there was a Lotus Carlton inside the garage, I had a wee nosey to see what it was like. To get to the Lotus I had to pass a Sierra Saphire Cosworth, next to it was an absolutely immaculate Escort RS2000 with only 12,000 miles ( totally mint and original). Next to that was a Sierra Cosworth RS500 again totally mint, then came a Whale tale Escort Cosworth and next to that was a gorgeous Aston. But when I got to the Lotus Carlton, I had a bit of a moment in the trouser department. It was totally stunning, the owner of the garage came over and told me these were part of his private collection. He had sold the Carlton to the last owner many years ago and he had bought it back of him later, its only done 20k miles and in amazing condition, I almost missed the 85 Escort RS Turbo next to it, the owner opened the boot to show me the original wheel and tyre were still in place complete with sticker ( it has never seen the road).
I left there with a huge smile, a few of them would be in my dream garage, lottery win permitting !!!

Re: Came across my dream garage
Who were you talking to Graham, probably Brian as Eddie is normally out buying?
They have a hell of a stock with some interesting cars as well as everyday ones. I pop in now and again with the Elise, as although you are lucky to get out of there without buying a car, they are real Petrolheads.

Re: Came across my dream garage
It was Colin Morrison, a really nice chap. Just seems to love cars.
Re: Came across my dream garage
It would seem to be my father-in-law's second home. He's bought a DB9, Arnage T, Continental GT Speed and Vantage from them in the last 8 years!
Re: Came across my dream garage
My S1 Exige came from Morrison's, back in 2003. Colin's had a few elises himself.
Re: Came across my dream garage
Sounds like a pretty special collection, they could almost host their own show!

Re: Came across my dream garage
I must be getting old as the 'new classics' liked the ones you mentioned are the ones I remembered and liked, and I can now wander round classic car shows seeing them.
Nice to see you feel the Lotus Carlton has presence, wondered if it would look a bit dated now just as a body kitted Omega, did love the dark green colour.
