Shipping packaging
Shipping packaging
I have had an inquiry to purchase my hard top from a very nice gentleman in Germany so I am looking into the best methods of getting the roof to him in its current immaculate condition.
I have a number of competitive quotes, so primarily looking at how to package the roof. Has anyone had any experience with this? Would covers over the corners and many layers of thick bubble wrap enough or does it need structural support?

Re: Shipping packaging
All the above plus boxed or crated, in my opinion. Not trivial!

Re: Shipping packaging
Old Large LCD Telly box and associated polystyrene (adapted) might be a good shout....
Or expanda foam in poly bags could be messy, but i think there are commercial packing solutions that use this technique.

Re: Shipping packaging
I got cycle boxes from Halfords were perfect size, put extra cardboard on the corners, bubble wrapped and taped before packing in box. Sorted for both hard tops I sold.
Buyer was arranging his own courier without insurance so I confirmed if it was broke on arrival I wouldn't pay. Took loads of pictures and emailed them to him before courier collected showing perfect hardtop.

Re: Shipping packaging
S1 Hard tops have tails which are vulnerable I think.

Re: Shipping packaging
OP's avatar and signature would suggest it's for an S2?

Re: Shipping packaging
Ha ha, sorry Ryan, yes, agree, an S2 hardtop will be a simpler packaging proposition. Well done with your sale.
