Bugger France holiday cancelled, what to do at Loch Lomond?
Bugger France holiday cancelled, what to do at Loch Lomond?
Ah bugger... Well having booked and had our family hearts set on a south of France family holiday end of July. Ive had to cancel it yesterday due to short term ill health (managed to get a bloody thrombosis in my right leg & operation planned end of the month o fix it and strip some veins while they are at it). Travel insurance has stepped in and we have cancelled the lot so no financial loss as such. Have to say all bookings have simply refunded which was nice.
So my operation is on 27th July and we are trying to find a more local venue before the op. Settled on Cameron House lodges around Loch Lomond. Our kids are 9yrs & 5yrs. Can Seloc recommend activities within 30mins to 1.5hr of Loch Lomond.
We are open to lots of cycling, walking, boats, swimming pools etc. Not interested in visiting Edinburgh or Glasgow, but more the west coast & beauty of the scottish hills (provided the kids don't find it too boring).
Any tips or recommendations here would be greatly appreciated as I rebuild the family holiday last minute
(ill put a cross post on Seloc too)
Cheers
James

Follow A82 and visit inveraray and oban. In oban there are lots of opportunities to kayak, go swimming, take the ferry to mull etc and it's only an hour and a half from your location. If you're more adventurous head to Skye, Arran, kintyre... you're in a fantastic location to explore the west coast.

Head along to Lomond Shores if you want somewhere local, you'll find kayaks, boats and bikes to hire also the aquarium for the kids. Pretty sure Sweeneys Cruises start a boat tour from it as well.

What ever you do, take Avon skin so soft. Loch Lomond that time of year, in the evenings you'll be eaten alive! Spent time in the log cabins North shore, about 2 hours to be precise!,
Just saying....

There's a product out called Smidge - works a treat, I won't head that way without it these days.dov wrote:What ever you do, take Avon skin so soft. Loch Lomond that time of year, in the evenings you'll be eaten alive! Spent time in the log cabins North shore, about 2 hours to be precise!,
