I'm never driving it again...
I'm never driving it again...
Mrs Pete at the local garage getting fuel yesterday.
"That is a f.cking beautiful motor by the way missus."
And then ned just stands there, looking at the car whilst Mrs Pete finishes filling it up with petrol and goes to pay for it.
"I. F,cking. Hate. Driving . That. Car." she tells me.

Surely a result !
My wife must have only drove my Elise's a handful of times.
2nd time, out on her own someone nudged into the rear at traffic lights, £2K damage.
Did get respect the only day she took it to work from the patients dads while out doing her paediatric community physiotherapist.
She has only driven the 968 once, coming home from Steve's wedding.
I got the why is the steering so heavy, why does it wander all over the road, why are the brakes so heavy, as well as are you sleeping and why do a lot of the guys at the wedding have more than 1 lotus

Suzy owned the first 2, so she's no stranger to driving them but I think the love has gone...

Kim is insured on the TVR, but she'll never drive it.
She finds it too low, too loud, too fast. Fait accompli

Re: I'm never driving it again...
Lesley loved driving the Evora and still gives me regular verbal for selling it, along the lines of this -
Re: I'm never driving it again...
Better half drove the S1 Exige first night of ownership. Stalled it 3 times in front of a police car and then scared an old dear at a traffic light revving the thing to keep it running. Issues I then fixed, but I've since been told the next car has to be easier to drive and that 'character' as a feature has limits.

I found my 944 S2 pretty nice to live with on a daily basis. Erica complained that the pedals were too heavy, and the steering was a bit heavy for parking - though I always thought that the 28 year old Porsche automatically adjusting power steering was pretty impressive!
Of course, she owned a VX200 for 5 years, so driving the Lotus has never really been an issue for her. She maons about the awful gear change though, which I guess, compared to her VX is a bit like stirring porridge.

Lisa has always loved our S1 and renewed her vows with it at KH last weekend
Sadly she has lost her track mojo and feels unlikely to drive it on track again. Which is a shame as first time around - 16 years ago - she was really rather handy

Re: I'm never driving it again...
Lol, that's my problem, after driving the 968 more in summer and cos I don't need a daily driver I jump into the BMW and constantly go to the wrong side to put handbrake off and on.Corranga wrote:IanD wrote:...but not "why is the handbrake in the wrong place?"
For the non porsche guys, possibly a few on an Elise forum ! , handbrake is tucked down the sill side.
I've got the 'lightweight' Clubsport spec with no boot lock, a toggle on the rear turret opens the boot but not so handily passengers side for RHD so May still takes a second to click why I'm nudging her out the way to pull the toggle to get to the boot. Also little sound proofing so it is probably louder road noise and roar wise than the Elise but not exactly a nice engine noise with standard exhaust. She does find 968 bucket seats more comfort than the Elise ones though and probably only slightly easier to get in and out. She fancied a boxster but thought if I did that it would be too practical and liked making it difficult to get back into Lotus so picking a slightly track focused car for the road works
Campbell, Lovely to have the Elise linked to a relationship and the memories, although as I've said surely it has to be a keeper and hand me down through the family.
Re: I'm never driving it again...
We had a 944S2 too. It was officially Mrs mik's daily driver, but I seemed to take it quite a bit. She lost interest after a couple of years though, and had a big oversteer moment in it where she nearly lost it - so we replaced it with an RX8 to get 4 full sized seats and some elecktrickery safety net too....Corranga wrote:IanD wrote: I found my 944 S2 pretty nice to live with on a daily basis.
