Servicing in Edinburgh

Post by Sebbie » Tue Dec 30, 2014 4:09 pm

Hi

I bought a 2003 Elsie this summer after admiring one for may years. Last month it needed a new alternator and now it needs a new radiator!!! Prices are steep.

Where does everyone take their Elise to have it serviced/repaired.

Thanks

Sebbie

First of all :welcome

I am up in Aberdeen and plenty of us from up this way use MMC.

Have you bought the radiator, or are you looking to purchase and install together?

See here; http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... lit=Murray

Craig Moncrieff the service manager at MMC will look after you and I am surprised that you think that costs are high.

Remember that cheap is not always best, especially since MMC know these cars inside out and can spot any potential problems early on.

Another recommendation for MMC here. I have used independants a couple of times in the past, before Craig took over and sorted the servicing side of the busines, and now wouldn't take a Lotus anywhere other than Murray. Not the most convenient location for everyone but the service and attention to detail make the travel worthwhile.

Ok - hearing you long and clear - thanks for the advice.

I got a discount for being part of the forum after a discussion with Craig. So that was great too.

Thanks again

I bought a 2003 Elsie this summer after admiring one for may years. Last month it needed a new alternator and now it needs a new radiator!!! Murray Lotus seem to just make up prices that are ridiculous for parts and the labour.

Where does everyone else take their Elise to have it serviced/repaired.

MMC for me as well,we don't know the prices you were quoted but to my knowledge Craig's OK with you supplying the parts yourself and remember that radiator fitment is labour intensive....clam off.
I recently had clam removal for windscreen replacement and that was around £350 to remove and refit......shimmed to perfection!!....you're paying for the knowledge & quality of work.......if you've ever tried Arnold C then you'll appreciate the differance.
