Yes the battery is normally there but i had to make some modifications.
Today saw the car coming off the lift for the first time, first thing we noted was that the suspension didn't drop much with the bigger engine, perhaps 10mm, so we wound the rear coilovers up 10mm and it now sits level again.
The clutch bite is perfect, a nice action to it and not stiff at all despite the 6 paddle Mr2 upgrade we fitted. Moving the car for the first time was effortless, we see the same thing with our Mr2 V6's, there is so much more torque even at just off idle that you can just lift the clutch and it pulls away, and very little revs needed to make it shoot off with consumate ease.
We gave the car a few drives around the Business park in just 1st and 2nd gear, no heroics for now, just shakedown testing and making sure everything is working as it should be after its 12 week open heart surgery and i'm pleased to report everything is working as we expected it to.
Testing ended after that because it absolutely tipped down with rain here all day, so i couldn't risk opening the taps on a V6 Elise, that will come later after the initial testing phase is over. It sounds absolutely glorious though, the V6 going through that exhaust system is perfection, so much so i'm thinking of installing that system on some customers Mr2s, it has a very distinct howl i haven't heard from any Mr2 system yet, love it.
Work is still continuing on the modifications to the engine lid, which is nothing more than raising the rear vents by 15mm, comments made elsewhere you'd think i was redesigning the whole thing! But hey i'm used to taking flack over this project now, so far we are very happy with the outcome and hopefully people can judge for themselves the quality of install without listening to the naysayers.
So here are some final engine bay shots, the boot trim is refitted, the engine top cover is now on and everything buttoned up.
If the rain holds off tomorrow we will get some more vigorous testing done and hopefully a video or two.
