End of season

Post by robin » Wed May 11, 2016 7:43 am

Morning All,

Thinking about the end of season trip. Three options spring to mind.

Oulton Park & Donnie
This would be a quicker trip, really just one day off work or maybe two. Probably the trip most likely to attract numbers.

Thu 27/10 (evening) drive down to Northwich, stay in usual venues.
Fri 28/10 Oulton Park with LoT (£125, 105dB(A) static) then drive to Donnie. Overnight in usual places.
Sat 29/10 Donington Park National Circuit with BaT (£199, 98dB(A) drive by & 100dB(A) static) - leave your loud exhausts at home!

Then either overnight and head home Sunday, or do something else.

Donnie & Spa
This would be a full week's trip I think and possibly a bit sparse in the middle and more expensive because of the ferries, etc.

Monday 31/10 Drive to Donnie, usual Travelodge or similar (note you could skip this and drive down on the morning if you like).
Tuesday 1/11 Donnington Park GP Circuit with Trackdays (never been on one of their days). (£225, 110dB(A) day. Overnight somewhere convenient.
Wednesday 2/11 Some overnight ferry to Europe.
Thursday 3/11 Drive to Spa, then overnight.
Friday Spa 4/11 with LoT (£240, 107dB(A) static).
Saturday/Sunday make way home via whichever route you prefer.

Spa & Silverstone GP or Brandshatch Indy & Oulton Park
This will be quite expensive .. but smells like a donkey punch tour of years gone by:

Friday 4/11 Spa with LoT.
Mon 7/11 Silverstone GP or Brandshatch Indy with Trackdays.
Wed 9/11 Oulton Park with Trackdays.

Hi robin
I would be interested in option 1 (depending on how boring Evora is on track Saturday) ;)

Cheers

Hm. Lot of food for thought in there.

I'm up for the Donny / Oulton double header again.

Donny / Oulton sounds great.

Might be going for a holiday around then so will need to see how the dates work out.

Cool bananas. We'll let it run another week or two, but looking like OP + Donny, which is great 'cos they're both great tracks. Now I need to find some bigger cajonas.

I have marked 28-29 in the diary. No promises. I'll be needing those cojones Robin. And that's just to ask for the pass, lol

Cajonas for the faster straights?!
I will hold off for a couple of weeks before booking then. But this sounds pretty good to me.

Druids at Oulton Park always requires a degree of commitment, particularly if it has rained at any time in the last month :-)

The Craner curves at Donnie similarly challenging.

All IMHO, obvz.

Both first for me... will try and get an instructor / go around with someone for a few laps first after the sighting laps.

Oulton Park is the sort of place you can actually damage your car properly. Of course you can do this at KH too, but pretty much only Duffus dip (unless you're Mas who managed to T bone the pit wall ;-)).

I've seen cars in the tyres/barriers at pretty much every fast corner at OP - including SE cars a plenty. You have been warned :-)
