I'm going to leave decision to nearer the time, not to keen on the sessions at Le Mans. I wouldn't be out with many of the usual SEr's

Yeah the sessions at Le Mans are a bit mince. S1 <800kg dry weight so in with Kenny and I.
That would make it a 50/50 split of SE so far. :)

I think Le Mans will seem very quiet on track though, especially the lightweight group. Just a matter of getting used to timing your driving to the sessions. Might be quite good with forced time for suspension/tyre pressure adjustments, refuelling etc. Probably less cross session chat but maybe more paxing?

For me Dijon and Magny Cours make the trip...

Usually good deals on flight plus TGV (cheaper than flights alone)...

TGV from CDG to Le Mans is very fast and convenient.

Anyone been looking at the Geordie Express yet?

I have just had a look at the prices and Google mapped a few distances for comparison.

Option 1:
Looking at leaving on Friday morning from Aberdeen to be at Newcastle (250mile 5hrs) for the 17:00 ferry which arrives in Amsterdam at 09:30 on the Saturday morning and it's coming in at £549.
Amsterdam to Le Man is 456miles (7hrs 30min)
Saturday night in Le Mans is the first night of the Frolic.
Aberdeen to Le Mans 706miles driving.

Option 2:
Alternatively we were looking at leaving on the Thursday night from Aberdeen to Penrith which is 250miles (4hr 30min).
Friday would be Penrith to Dover 360miles (6hrs)
Saturday from Calais to Le Mans 265miles (4hrs 15min)
Aberdeen to Le Mans 875miles driving.
Option two would also have to include two nights accommodation on route to Le Mans.

You could man up and just do Aberdeen to Le Mans in one day with no need for extra accommodation :p

I found 1200 miles and 18 hours my limit for a days driving :D

Ape method may not be wife friendly Steve.

I had a variation to option 2 where I'd blat all the way to Dover on the Friday joining you late evening.

New Option 3: :thumbsup
Friday Aberdeen to Hull, overnight ferry to Zeebrugge.
Saturday to Le Mans (317 miles)

Return via Zeebrugge would also be relatively painless (assuming avoiding ferry trucker man love)...

We did the hull route this year and it was relatively painless. Cheaper than Newcastle and closer to France by over 100 miles as Ali has intimated.

Have done the whole drive there in a day thing in the past and it’s sh1t. End up like a zombie for a few days. Never again.

I managed La Clusaz to home in 14 hours, 941 miles, non stop other than than 15 min sleep on the train, left at 4.30, in bed for 6.30....5 fuel , pee and double espresso stops..

Don't ever plan to do that again.

When I left, the rest of the group were in the queue to board the Newcastle ferry, and I was home by the time they got back to UK coast, Top Gear style.
I even managed to order my duty free en route. ...
