detailing how to and gratuitous s1 exige photos

Post by jj » Sun Dec 30, 2007 6:09 pm

I was looking at some pics from the september SIDC day and realised I hadnt washed the zige since, so decided in my hungover state to give it a good "detailing" . Also, someone had kindly spat all over the windscreen and front clam when i left it parked in town last night (again  ) so wanted to get rid of the jakey-gob.

I started off with looking for the bucket, which had vanished, along with my preferred pound-shop sponge. I eventually found a bucket in the shed and a sponge that was just the ticket.

Some £1.49 car shampoo in a turtlewax style bottle (looking at it closely, it clearly came from the same poundshop as the sponges  ) was liberally emptied into said bucket and off I went out to the car.

Now, not wanting to go into this detailing business half arsed, it was 3pm so I had put aside approximately 40mins pre-darkness to work some magic.

This thorough clean applied to the inside also, where I removed the mats and gave them a beating.

Grey hides dirt well

I used the sleeve of my hoodie and my finger to remove bits of tar and this nice "burnt exhaust" effect from the rear clam

Will do until spring when its going to get a mini-makeover and someone else can polish it properly - its waaaay to cold at the moment!

cant believe you leave you car over night in town !

I am scared leaving mines in george square for half an hour !

Last time I was in pancho villas for dinner I had a window seat facing right on to my car . At least 5 people TOUCHED it . :( A junkie even knocked the front clam as if sayin to himself

"hmmmm aye fiberglass right enough"

I wasnt happy

Any £1.49 car shampoo left over ? I've got an Audi in a similar state, 3 months since it was washed last iirc. What a great job you've done, when can I drop it off :)

Cheers chaps  .

Last nights gob came from leaving it parked underneath the kingston bridge near harry ramsdens. Heaps of junkies round that neck of the proverbial woods.

I used to worry leaving my first s1 in town (theres a post from way back then when it too was gobbed on by a junky mofo) but with the exiges I have adopted the "if it happens it happens" approach. So far so good, and I leave them all over town. I am living in G1 from next month too so cant really avoid it

Feck knows how those boys can be arsed spending literally days washing cars and applying wax with their fingertips
