Knockhill SIDC Saturday 8th August 2009

Post by Skyenet » Sun Aug 09, 2009 1:25 am

Well that's me finally got home and uploaded the photos from today. That was my first day taking photos at Knockhill and really enjoyed trying out loads of different locations, though had to fight my way through loads of nettles and thistles to get to some of them. Weather was great and track action good. Messed about with shutter speeds to get panned shots (cars in focus with blurred backgrounds) but many cars were still quite blurry. Reckon 250th sec to 500th sec is sufficiently slow to the desired effect. I tried down to 125th sec but too many didn't work out at all. Just used one lens all day, a Nikon 55mm to 200mm VR Zoom. The average setting for most shots was 135mm.

Superb shots Iain - well worth the efforts of climbing into unexplored parts of Knockhill!

You should put some of these in as contenders for the SE 2010 calendar.

Some nice shots, Iain. Jealous of your orange bib access (how did you manage to wangle that?!)... got some very interesting new angles to shoot there. I get bored of the same angles at KH, which is partly why I hardly ever go up with my camera. Love the one of the cars coming down off Duffus, that angle has a lot of potential.

Early days though isn't it. Just keep practising, mate. Getting sharp images at 1/80-1/125 will come and you'll surprise yourself :thumbsup

Hi Folks, great day yesterday, very civilised!

I've uploaded all my shots now, there's 100+ on my flickr account http://www.flickr.com/photos/4hero/sets ... 855358209/. View the set as a slideshow if you like http://www.flickr.com/photos/4hero/sets ... 8209/show/. I've also added them to the Scottish Elises pool.

Cheers,

Neil.

Not really. It wasn' t getting too much of a work out in the corners I think.
