F.U.D. Run - Prologue

Post by Victor Meldrew » Wed Dec 02, 2015 1:16 am

Shakedown run completed. All lights, heater etc confirmed working and good to go. No idea what bulbs I have in the headlights but they work very well. 12v socket checked ready for the Sat Nav. All good to go.

So where else would I take it.. obvious choice for a near by destination.

Jim Clark.

Tyres are well past there best. Shocks also really bouncy. So little grip. Had the back end step out when accelerating in a straight line in third gear.

Throttle response is interesting. You get nothing then when it does open it takes off, makes it difficult following cars in traffic. Suspect that it it related to the cable touching the bottled and being pushed down a bit. The car has an alloy Rover spec plenum fitted. I am told that this sits higher so the plan is to switch this out for a plastic one which should solve the clearance issue.

Other than that, Stack voltage regulator playing up so that will need looked at, temperature indication jumping all over the place. the Stack glass could do with being replaced as well.

So other than shocks and tyres and the few minor niggles above its good to go. The plan was always to get miles onto the car and find out what else needs done. Very happy with where it is just now. All thanks to Craig Moncreiff and his team.

Do you have a 56mm TB fitted? Mine had this and the throttle response was pants. It was either zero or full with no graduation to it. I changed it back to the spec and all is good.
