Guy crashes into police van tying to look at my car!

Post by Jamie84 » Sat Nov 03, 2007 3:55 pm

This was quite amusing actually , Was sitting at junction barrhead main st this morning , 2 screws in a police van starred me out as they drove past , I looked straight back at them . Further up the street i pulled over at the shops and noticed that the cops had also stopped on the opposite side of the street . I am certain they were comming over to have a word with me. Then this guy comes flying down in a white van , he almost snaps his neck looking at my car then scuds the police van !!!

I couldnt help laughing to myself ! is this bad of me ?

no one was hurt , when I returned to my car they were breathelizing the poor chap !

police van was pretty smashed up , other was a hire van .

also while at the bank yesterday , i overheard a guy talking ...." aye that elise there isnt really that good , clarkston slated it , the vx220 is a much better car and is much faster "

I politely corrected him , letting him know that his identification of lotus models was utter wank!

.....awaits vx220 owners agreeing with the bovril

Clarkson did a group test with the VX220 Turbo, Elise S2 111R and TVR T350C (which he nickmnamed the Valhammer as T350C sounds like a toaster)

Basically, he drove the TVR, saying it's the best TVR yet. Then briefly drove the Elise, demonstrating that it understeers, then drove the VX Turbo and demonstrating rear end out action, hence saying the VX was better than the Elise. Clarkson has also named the VX220 his fave car in one of his videos.

Strangely, Tiff Needell drove the same 2 cars on Fifth Gear (VXT and 111R) proclaiming the Lotus better since it starts to Understeer, then goes rear end happy in a perfectly fun and controlable way. I reckon the Elise was very slightly quicker around the circuit (Croft / Oulton Park, can't remember tbh)

So basically, Clarkson can't drive, but we knew that anyway. Interesting that generic bank machine using guy confused the Elise/Exige, does that mean all us Elise owners get the added bonus of everyone thniking our cars are further up the range? ;)

My mate keeps telling me i have a Lambo 8)

Perhaps leave the Vx bashing to Seloc :?:

Not meaning to start a debate , which has been argued to death already its all down to personal preference . I once considered an vx, but feel the back end of the car totally lets its down aesthetically ......anyway not going down that road . The thing that really annoyed me was the tone in which the bank using guy said it , basically trying to slate my car in an almost jealous manner .

also jezza was comparing it to 111r , not exige . perhaps said bank user wouldnt have made such comments if he knew the difference in models .

anyways lets nip it in the bud , the whole lotus vs Vx thing has been done so many times ! particularly on seloc as you mentioned vxjon

Turbo'd VX does sound rather tasty on paper though 0-60 4 secs!

I would say you have to debate it in the way of -

Standard VX vs Standard Elise S2

Turbo VX vs Standard Exige S2

I think Turbo VX is better stat wise than an Elise but the preference then comes down to badge and styling as to which you'd rather buy.. I know i test drove both and obv look which one i bought...

But if you pair it up like above - i think the Elise/Exige wins.... All IMHO

Can agree with the OP about the attention an orange Exige gets

As to the VX/Exige comparison, yes, the VXT is better on paper, but personally I much prefer the Exige - handling, power delivery, looks, interior, the sound it makes... And it's much faster on track too. Haven't ever regretted changing my VXT for the Exige :D
