Saturday 25th March: Destination Barnsley
Well, off down south with my trusty mate Dave (the guy who's helping me with this and actually knows what he's doing!) Managed Glasgow to Barnsley in 3.5 hours, which I thought was decent going....
Had a good chat with the seller - who's just completed a self build Honda conversion, which looked absoulutely fantastic. Good lad and tells me the history of the engine/car and gives me a good look about the engine itself. Happy, I proceed to hand over the greenbacks and we manhandle in into the boot of the Merc.
Slight problem no. 1. It's not going in any time soon.... Hangs up on the plenum. Thankfully, Dave is an accomplished mountaineer and knows one end of a knot from another, so we end up with it mounted thus:

The looks I got for my twin engined Merc on the way home....
Anyway - uneventful drive up the road and dropped off the wee beauty in the top secret construction facility:

(spots on the plenum are raindrops - not corrosion!)
Well, she's a VVC which has done 25k miles and been lightly ported to produce 167BHP on the standard plenum, 52mm TB and the standard ECU.
Over the next couple of weekends, I'll be ripping out the old engine, stripping a few ancilliaries off it, plumbing in a PRRT stat, mounting my TB's and rebuilding the wiring loom for this engine...
First work takes place nexxt weekend and I'll post up how it goes (with piccies)
