Good Day - Bad Day!!

Day started off well with a trip down to Dan at JPS for a A service which went smoothly - cheers Dan!

Took the Coldstream Road home which was ace

and quite quiet.

Got back into Edinburgh, 2 streets away from home - was sitting at a juction trying to turn onto Morningside Road when the car in front reverse light come on - and yes you guessed it the woman reverses straight into me

I got the usual "oh sorry your just so low I didnt see you - oh its only a wee scrape"

Unfortunaltely the clam is cracked so i tried to explain this will likely be an expensive fix

What got me mad was her daughter (around 40ish) came out of a shop and tried to say it was my fault because I must have been too close behind her (she didnt see what happened) I nearly lost it at that point but tried to stay calm and swap details

Spoken to my insurance who said there is no doubt she is to blame - so time to get the wheels in motion to get it fixed

My insurances repairers are Nationwide based out in Loanhead - anyone know what they are like?? Was thinking of just getting Steve Walker out at Bathgate to do it?

Any recommendations for repaires would be appreciated!

First question. Is she still alive?

Second question. Is her daughter still alive?

Just hope that it is cut and dried and everything comes off her Insurance.

ps did you establish that she actually meant to reverse, or was it just that she did not understand the difference between first and reverse.

ps if her daughter was 40+, then the mother was over 60, which just goes to prove that they should be keeping these geriatrics off the road, or at least making them take a driving test every two years.

Yeh she was a bit of an old biddy - the second time this has happened to me

, my old S1 took at hit from an old biddy in a BMW a few years back.

She said she was trying to turn the car around?? God only knows but its so pi55ing off !!

My insurance seems to think it is cut and dry so hopefully she wont try and contest it

Doubt its a new clam job but we will just have to wait and see what the garage says on Monday

Think ill open a bottle of wine and down my sorrows

Unsure if Nationwide have worked on Elises before, I have never seen any Lotus cars there when I have driven passed. I would check that they have the experience.

They matched the copper colour up ok on the Daewoo, though the panel gap lines werent exactly straight when we got the car back. I only noticed when the car was back a few days later. Since it was the Daewoo, couldnt be ar$ed doing anything about it... I hardly drive it.

Nationwide in Glasgow had mine in 3 times for a similar incident- they had runs in the paint and knackered the alarm! So from my experience I probably would request another bodyshop!

But that said everywhere has good and bad reports

Mmm think Steve Walkers in Bathgate will be getting my car - they worked on my GF's Corsa and did a good job and at the time they were working on a S2 and a VX so they seem to know their stuff

Dont wont to take the risk with Nationwide even though they would be the easy option
