Mine is an S2 2002 (no central locking) as well, with a Cobra, it also beeps and flashes, it has a motion sensor (only found that out when jumping in, scared the crap out of me), you can turn it off, if you press the "wee" button on the alarm fob. So maybe you have turned yours off??

just to bring this back on track a little, I try and nip in for a look most days (only have the net at work) to see whats what, if I can add my two pence worth to a subject I will (although to be honest most of this stuff whizzes past me at a 'ell of a rate of knots).
