Hi, I have a lightweight single skin race hardtop for sale, I got this from Middlemoor mouldings, black gloss, blank skin inside, no mounting points or seals but easy enough to bond on I'm sure. Good condition/no chipped edges. 5kg in weight. Corner to corner looking along front edge is 109cm, rear ...

Re: S2 - Quantum zero dampers - Driveability

Right guys ignore previous comments regarding the stock shocks fitted being shorter at the rear. Just compared front/rears top to bottom, talking twaddle as you probably expected!

Roll on Sat to get them switched!

Re: S2 - Quantum zero dampers - Driveability

I emailed them earlier too, Ian replied confirming that the longer ones go on the rear, states that is standard too.

It's okay Woody, I'll leave it and get them swopped Sat, thanks anyway.

Re: S2 - Quantum zero dampers - Driveability

Well I'm confused,

As length wise when we had them off to change the collars, rears were definately shorter, which I did think was odd at the time but anyway they are on back to front, shorter on the rear

I'll get them changed over on Sat at the garage. What a mess this is ha

Re: S2 - Quantum zero dampers - Driveability

So maybe your billies weren't shot and they were just on back to front? Well one, rear (or should have been the front?) was definately leaking fluid. But I thought these would not fit back to front? Anyone confirm? Would you not notice a definate difference in rake/handling if so? looked normal lev...

Re: S2 - Quantum zero dampers - Driveability

It's just occurred to me.... are you sure you fitted the dampers the correct way around, i.e. the fronts are not on the rear? It was a looong way out, may explain a couple of things. Just to add, it didn't feel at all stiff at the rear for an elise (accept we were two up), but the way I understand ...

Re: S2 - Quantum zero dampers - Driveability

Yeah that'd be good to check it out, not using the car much anyway, what nights good/time?, Tue is out for me, other nights fairly flexible, after 8 would be ideal, been running to gym classes, getting bit late though? It's okay Shug, I'll get a wee look later myself and measure them to see if they ...

Re: S2 - Quantum zero dampers - Driveability

I wonder I wonder.... if they are on back to front? we measured them up against the billies, we did notice the spring was very close to the wishbone at the rear, adjusted them by about an inch out of the box.

I'll need to have a look, are you at Prestwick on Sat?

Re: S2 - Quantum zero dampers - Driveability

Cheers for the input Shug,

I'll get it set up as it is and take it from there, if it is still not for me then I'll see what the options are for a softer spring for the rear.

Let you all know the outcome.

Thanks guys

Re: S2 - Quantum zero dampers - Driveability

Glad to hear, yeah that'd be good! Thinking the same, get it set correct and take it from there. eliseparts were offering to change the springs for free I'm sure. I think it was Gav who posted earlier said he got his changed FOC, However I don't think they have made a lower spring rate before... So ...

Re: S2 - Quantum zero dampers - Driveability

Hi Shug, Good to hear from you, hows the new digs? Yes I know I was all set to get the rears refurbed, then got talked out of it by a few people, should probably have kept it stock, at present booked in to Kenny's for alignment next week, it is way out in height. would have set it better myself this...
