Re: Oh no, MOT time and my shock is leaking

Thanks Shug. So I guess tomorrow might be a little too soon :) I will put it through the MOT then see what happens, either way they need done. I see loads of views on suspension but for 100% road use I want something that just works over our sh*t roads. I'll see if I can find the Bilstein contact to...

Oh no, MOT time and my shock is leaking

Right rear shock (ok damper) has been leaking all down to the ball joint. It does look like a leaky damper. :( So looking at Elise Parts for replacements they are mega$$$ I guess I have to replace them all given the springs look like they are all rusting, the paint is flaking off etc. They are the o...

Re: Bridgestone Adrenalin RE002s

And Mike's isn't exactly a standard car either... it's 260+ bhps Maybe a geo is in order? How did the tyres wear... evenly? outside/inside etc? Tyres seem evenly worn and I've had the geo setup and checked. Mind you I wasn't 100% happy as Redpath Tyres in Edinburgh never managed to get my steering ...

Re: Bridgestone Adrenalin RE002s

Arghhh ok will cancel. Would love to be able to compare these tyres but for 70 quid and a bit more hassle I better stick with the tried and tested AD08's

thanks guys :)

Bridgestone Adrenalin RE002s

Guys I need to replace my worn AD08s on the back of S2. They haven't exactly lasted very long and thats with normal driving and only a standard K series engine. So thought I'd try something new so have ordered the Bridgestones above. They are supposed to be for enthusiastic driving and recommended f...

Re: Car wont start. Help!

Robin Not exactly. Its started fine with the key since the other day when the fault occurred and enabled me to test the hot-wire to prove the starter motor worked. Its been "fixed" since then. Seems to be worse after the car has been sitting for a couple of days which makes me think the solenoid is ...

Re: Car wont start. Help!

After its well timed failure and letting me test the hot-wire approach in the comfort of my own garage and of course then starting on the button every time whilst in Manchester the past two days I got home ok this evening. So now just need to replace the bits I need so I don't have the embarrassment...

Re: Car wont start. Help!

Tapped the silver barrel thingy (is this the starter solenoid?) that is attached to the starter motor. Refitted the wire onto the blade and the engine started. Now have to decide whether to drive to Manchester like this or not. :(

Re: Car wont start. Help!

Robin same problem today so did this as you said... "Looking at the back of the starter there are two big terminals (screws with nuts on) with big cables on them - one runs into the starter motor proper, the other runs off to the engine bay loom - these are at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock, ish. At 6 or 1...

Re: Car wont start. Help!

Thanks Robin I'll keep an eye on it. Not loosing much coolant now (it would be tiny per 100 mile) so agree, I doubt its the issue you say regards leaking into the bore. Guess the hotwire test is the one to go for just now. I suppose I could remove the starter and see how easy it spins and perhaps ri...

Re: Car wont start. Help!

So it seems I was premature in my replacement fuse being the culprit. I have managed to blow the 20amp fuse again when starting. So I replaced it with a 25amp fuse (yes I know you shouldnt but thought maybe the 20amp was on the limit.) So that was a few days ago and its been fine since but today I w...

Re: Car wont start. Help!

Ahh ok that makes more sense. I just thought I'd remove the ECU cover and see what was in there. And just checked the fuses I found. I later looked them up and they are listed as Start Immobiliser and Fuel pump fuses. Both fairly important I'd say :) After this little annoyance I've ordered a load o...
