Re: Surrey -> Aberdeen -> Sheffield....any roads you suggest?

When you're heading up to Aberdeen, or back down South, avoid the very boring A90 dual carriageway from Perth to Aberdeen. Instead head onto the A93 at Perth which goes over the Spittal of Glenshee and through deeside.

Winter Tyres

Now that I have sold the S2 135r I don't have a need for these winter tyres. They are a full set of Goodyear Eagle Ultragrip Winter Tyres that are virtually unused. Fronts are 205/45 R16 and rears are 225/45 R17. Selling for £160 per pair, will sell as pairs or a job lot deal, or some kind of swap f...

Re: Northeast area

I drove over Glenshee and back on Sunday and thankfully it was stone free. There had been a big stretch of resurfacing between Kintore and Echt done a few weeks back but the loose stones have now cleared.

Re: Anyone bought a new car recently?

Should be arriving tomorrow, rather excited! Raj at M R Sportscars has been brilliant - sent through loads of detailed information ahead of sale and sent through several videos today covering features of the car, overview of documents plus videos of it getting loaded onto the transporter. Will defin...

Re: Anyone bought a new car recently?

After a minor off in my Elise resulted in a Cat N I decided to cut my losses and sell it on. Decided to go for something slightly more comfortable and practical that would allow me and the missus to take more weekend trips away... which also encouraged her to endorse a budget increase;) Have just bo...

Re: Secret features in cars

I just found the split screen function on iDrive. Have to say, as someone who's never used it before it's an excellent system, much prefer it to the touch screen system that was in the Golf... Not constantly cleaning off fingerprints is a bonus too!* *I know it's also touch screen but no real need t...

Re: Secret features in cars

Was flicking through some old pics to find something and saw and old one of our 3 series wagon. I noted I had the rear boot window open. The frame was so dusty I am sure the previous owner had never used it and probably never knew you were able to open it. Was wondering what other hiding in plain s...

Re: E10 Fuel compatibility

Suspected that would be the case for the Rover engine, hopefully more garages will have at least one pump in super so that we don't need to worry too much about planning fuel stops... especially since diesel is also not an option

E10 Fuel compatibility

I saw an article today that from September standard petrol is being switched from E5 to E10 with a 10% bioethanol mix which is likely to be incompatible with many classic cars as recent as early 2ks. Does anyone know if this will affect K series Elise's? There's a gov model checker website but Lotus...

Re: Elise rental?

It's not quite the same but there is a couple of caterham hire companies in Scotland. Depending on what you have driven in the past it at least gives you a taste of what driving a lightweight, back-to-basics car is like. I hired one from Highland Caterham Hire before I bought my Elise and it's what ...

Re: Anyone bought a new car recently?

I just traded my mk7.5 Golf GTI - only had it just under a year and sad to see it go but my missus has a hip injury and the seats just aggravated it so had to go. Ended up going for a 330d x-drive msport touring as a replacement. Seats seem to work for her, plenty space and a nice drive. Lack of wi...

SOLD: 2017 Golf GTI MK7.5 manual five door

Sad to have to let my GTI go after less than a year:( Unfortunately the sports seats just don't agree with a hip injury my missus suffered after a road bike accident and on long journeys it aggravates it too much... so we are going to look for a small SUV (Tiguan or Karoq) instead for easy access an...
