Re: The great gearbox debate ......

I wouldnt have on any form of Lotus (should it ever become available). I always have autos now on family cars (maybe getting old). I had one on my MK7 Golf GTi and I reckon it was one of the fastest real world machines I have ever owned due to the box. Just squeeze and go. Very quick in a TDi sort o...

Re: STANDARD (LOW) POWERED ENGINE COMPARISON

I still think for pure thrills an S1 is an amazing place to put your money and a 1.6CR with a few tweaks would be a great place to start Elise ownership. I love the pale blue ones :) Hijacking thread slightly, but I had my eye on this one, just not in a postition to buy yet. One of my favourite Eli...

Re: STANDARD (LOW) POWERED ENGINE COMPARISON

I did track the 1.6 cr. On the Murray track night it was great no problem with speed against Evoras or anything else. At that point I thought this isn’t too bad. The next one I did was a SIDC one and I felt all I did was pull over to the side. It was purely the difference in who attends the event, f...

Re: STANDARD (LOW) POWERED ENGINE COMPARISON

As I said above, I loved my 1.6 because I could really rag it. But with a TRD filter and exhaust it was fine, almost good. Campbell, how new was the one you tried? could it still of been tight? I am not suggesting it’s a rocket ship, but it was adequate for fun. But more important than power, it fel...

Re: STANDARD (LOW) POWERED ENGINE COMPARISON

:withstupid I have had both. The 1.6 CR is a great car for the road. You really can properly rag it without silly speeds. But, imho, the S1 is the original and still the best and I agree whole heartedly that the 1.6 is trying to get back to this, but isnt quite there. However, even looking at the be...

Re: 18 great years...

Hi Campbell,

I am gutted reading this, must be one of the longest elise ownerships and another S1 will never be the same as owning yours for 18 years :(

At least you are ok and hopefully something else will come along that can start a new chapter in ownership.

Cheers,

Stuart.

Nice one Mark! :thumbsup

I really like that, It will be interesting to see how you compare it to the S1 for everyday work and trackdays.

2013 Trek Madone 5.2

2013 Trek Madone 5.2. The bike has done nothing since I bought it new. It was used for 2014 etape caledonia and and a few training runs (most were done on my other bike). I would guess sub 500 miles, but defintely under 1k. Still on original tyres and brakes and essentially as new. This is the updat...

S1 - Elise Hardtop - Gullwing Type

I have an S1 Elise Hardtop Gullwing / T bar style in Azure Blue (the actual one shown in the photo) along with all the fixings. I don't use my car much over the winter so it would be better getting used by someone who will get the benefit of it. £750 ono. Collection from Montrose or can meet by agre...

Mk1 Mazda MX-5 1.8 ( 1998 UK car)

Mk1 Mazda MX-5 1.8 ( 1998 UK car) - £3250 ono I bought this Mazda locally a year and a half ago. It was intended as something to run in between Lotuses. However, I started doing a little maintenance on it and got a little carried away! I have spent a small fortune and a LOT of time but the car as n...
