Re: Another new home for Scottish Elises?
I have already managed to create two Discord accounts :-). It turned out I had one from before when the kidz got me to set it up as part of some experiment during COVID. My 2p. Use WA for the banter and current (track day/car news) affairs section of the community. Leave technical here on phpbb. Upd...

Re: Cleaner brake pads.
I too have used mostly Pagid 42 over the years; I tried various other flavours but the 42 were always the best compromise for the Elise. Of course I don't wash cars, so I have no idea about how much brake dust they create. I definitely used the Mintex 1144 at some point and I think they were also OK...

Re: Another new home for Scottish Elises?
Hi Of course WA is owned by Meta, the same as Facebook so the conscientious objectors won't want to use it anymore than FB. That aside, FB is probably more advertisement laden than a WA community? But I would definitely use a WA Community no less than I use SE phpbb so would be fine with it. I suspe...

Re: Blanket 50mph speed limit proposal on SE roads
It definitely has the feel of how to do something whilst spending not very much money
The right thing to do with the major roads is to make them into dual carriageways wherever possible, but that costs £millions and the budgets aren't there.

Re: Blanket 50mph speed limit proposal on SE roads
It's inevitable that they will install some form of speed monitoring on all the roads that get used regularly by HGVs. If you look at the data in the appendix of the linked report on the A9 pre-2014 the speeding rates were 40% (split evenly in the 60-70 and 70-80 buckets). Since the introduction of ...

P.S. If your signature is accurate a 2004 Bentley Continental GT is not likely to meet anyone's definition of cost effective motoring, no matter how little you paid for it

Re: Leccy cars
Of course there is a price difference - but there's nothing fundamentally different about an EV that means you couldn't use it for carrying stinky dogs (we used ours for that before we had to put the woofster to sleep). If it's just about the money, there are always going to be cheaper ICE options a...

Could have written off 2 S1s in one accident
. That's probably 1% of the remaining working cars!

Re: Leccy cars
We are a two tesla family these days (plus an Elise which hasn't turned a wheel in more than a year :-)). We live in Edinburgh and drive to Cornwall & Tiree at least once a year as well as the more normal up-down the A1/M1/M6 type journeys. Never had a problem charging the car/worried about not bein...

Re: Aubergine S2 Loganlea Reservoir
Planning a dawn 10 mile loop. So scores zero out of two on your fun run chart 🤣. Weather closing in later in the morning. Needs to be 10 miles because when they cancelled the Great South Run the chat is that if you submit a 10 mile run via Garmin/Strava/whatever they will send you the T-shirt ... so...

Re: Anyone got experience of lengthy car repairs?
Have you tried reporting it as stolen? :-) If there is a direct issue with the repair (e.g. the bumper that they fitted is the wrong one or cracked or whatever) then you can reject the repair. I believe that any other damage done to the car is a new claim, not a rejection of the original repair (gre...
