Re: Joiner recommendations - West Lothian
I know I don't post much on here, but when I did a few years ago looking for a joiner fellow form member Ian Lindsay, point n squirt being his user name, did some work for me and I can thoroughly recommend both him and his work. Perhaps he is too far away from you, being based in Hamilton, but it mi...

S2 K-Series Wheels and Tyres - Price reduced
I have for sale a set of silver six spoke K-series S2 wheels and tyres. The wheels (fronts – 5.5Jx16, rears 7.5Jx17)are in generally good condition, one of the fronts has a very light surface scratch and one of the rears has a few small chips. The tyres are Yokohama AD07s (fronts – 175/55 R16, rears...

First Trackday - a couple of questions
I'm planning to do my first trackday soon - next Thursday evening at Knockhill. I was wondering if it'll be a problem that my car doesn't have a front towing strut - it was broken when the RAC towed it follwing an HGF incident, and I haven't been brave enough to attempt to remove the front clamshell...

Re: Leaky shocker
I have some old ones if you want? I replaced mine with the Nitron Street series last year. Three of the four were OK when removed - have done around 45k miles. Assuming that your newer car uses the same spec as my 2001 Rover S2?
You can collect them any time you're passing?
Cheers,
Steve

Re: Windscreen replacement - S1
Autoglass in Edinburgh just replaced my windscreen (S2). They arranged with MMC to have the clam removed and replaced, so I dropped the car off at MMC in the morning and collected it with new screen installed the same day. They also dealt with the insurance company, so all I had to do was pay my exc...

Re: Feedback Required - "Murray Motors" thread merged
Thought I should leave a bit of feedback here following my recent service at MMC... My car is now ?8 years old - I initially had it serviced by MMC, but got fed up with both the service and the price, so when Dan Jude set up I used his services and was broadly happy, apart from the distance (from Ed...

Alternator Belt Tension?
Hi Guys I just changed the alternator on my 2001 S2, and am noticing a bit of a whine from the belt (I assume) at higher revs (>4000rpm), and can also hear the belt "spooling down" on shutting down the engine. This isn't the first alternator change I've done (although the first on an Elise), and hav...

Re: Drums at home - sound-proofing Q....
Simple answer - drums are REALLY loud and need loads of soundproofing if your proposed house is anywhere near other houses. I played drums (in a heavy metal band, mind) for nigh on 20 years and always had issues with soundproofing. I built a studio at my last house, which could have saved my life ha...

Re: XR2 Challenge
Oh and I should mention that I started that last race on the same row of the grid as a young Gordon Shedden. Sadly as a result of neither of us setting qualifying times, but I try not to mention that bit too loudly...!

Re: XR2 Challenge
Err. exactly as Shug said! But that's all water under the bridge now... As to the eligibility of English cars, OffshoreMatt is right - the regs diverged somewhat as the years went on, and the English scrutineers were never as, well, fastidious, as Willie Grieg. Don't know if he is still the chief sc...

Re: XR2 Challenge
As you'll notice I'm not a prolific poster here(!), but I did take part in XR challenge from 96-98 - just missed Brian J it seems! Firstly, as everyone else has noted no motor sport is cheap. I bought a car from the English series and ran it myself, and even in those days spent £3-4k per season. And...

Re: Anybody looking for a builder...
I'm sure he would - isn't Ayr closer to Hamilton than Dolphinton?

Anybody looking for a builder...
...in the Hamilton / South Lanarkshire area could do worse that pm our own Point n Squirt - aka Ian Lindsay. He's just done a great job for us finishing off our some details on our new build in Dolphinton after our previous builder messed us around and abandoned the job unfinished.
Cheers!
