Re: Winter Strip Down and Rebuild (Done and Dusted)

Hey Mikie, sorry to resurrect this thread from the dead (although it deserves to remain in the SE consciousness for all its worthy information.

But your fuel pump, is this a direct replacement for the OEM unit?

Re: Winter Strip Down and Rebuild (Warning.... Loads of Photo's)

Hey Mike, Did you get all your oil cooler hose and fittings from Merlin? What Hose and fittings did you end up going for? (specifics) By the looks of it your fittings are the plated steel ones? I've been hunting high and low to try and find hose and fittings that'll allow me to run alloy BSP, but th...

Re: Winter Strip Down and Rebuild (Warning.... Loads of Photo's)

I'm impressed by the weight Mike (or lack of it!) 775kg with driver and 1/3 tank. Assuming a 75kg driver that's 700 even with 1/3 tank! Have you done any weight reduction on the thing at all? My old S1 with a fair bit of lightening (lightweight battery, lightweight seats, ally bootlid, ally uprights...

Re: Winter Strip Down and Rebuild (Warning.... Loads of Photo's)

Thanks for that Mike. As for the balancing, and tungsten insertion, it's VERY expensive. The balancing and insertion bill for mine is likely to be nearing 1600 pounds (the insertion is 85% of this) Add to that you'll need a new stock crank, chosen for its lack of factory balancing holes, so that's a...

Re: Winter Strip Down and Rebuild (Warning.... Loads of Photo's)

Mike, FANTASTIC thread, really enjoying it and will be taking heed of what you've done as I build my own, similar spec engine up. You may have seen my own "over winter" refresh thread on SELOC that's just reached its one-year anniversary.... so perhaps that should be an over two-winters and one-summ...

Thanks for all the kind comments. I am rather smitten with the Exige I must say... although truth be told, any Elise variant is wet-dream material for me ;) I shan't be seeing you all on many runs, no, but I'll add that if any of you are down in this neck of the world, I can act as a tourguide :) An...

Long-range newbie!

Hi all, I've lurked on here for a wee while so thought I'd pop in and introduce myself. I'm not in, or even from, Scotland, but Auckland, New Zealand. My name's George and I'm 28 and as big a Lotus nutjob as you'll find. Lotus ownership was a dream since I was four, and has been a driving ambition a...
