Re: Secret features in cars
You’ve just made me go and test it out on the Merc. Did it work? I think Merc have an easier way of achieving same? Confess I'd have the keyless access permanently deactivated on my car if I could. I love keyless ignition though. I felt a new level of dejection when unsuccessfully trying the Blueto...

Re: Secret features in cars
Took me several months to work out how to lock my keyless golf without using the fob...  I had to teach my VW salesman that. Nobody seems to RTFM nowadays! There's more... to completely disable keyless entry (better peace of mind) lock using the key fob then, while the mirrors sti...

Re: Still not done Stelvio
If only there was a map with the best driving roads in Europe highlighted so you could plan a join the dots type of driving tour... Anyone got one? In 2005, 2006 and 2008 we enjoyed Alpine passes camping holidays with the Caterham and Elise. Bit of tent pitching, bit of guesthouse stopping (lots of...

C4 viewer here too (alongside Autosport for the past 35+ years) As feared after reading about Sky's constraints (limit on number of paddock interviews, grid access, pit lane access, zero C4 access to drivers' press pen, and restricting percentage of programme length given to on-track action) the Mel...

Great piece.
Was a timely reminder for son and I to go pay our respects in Chirnside on Sunday, since we'd be already there for other reasons

Re: Is a Caterham just a Lotus with a different badge
Can't say I personally ever felt a 'Lotus owner' when I owned my Caterham. Why? Cos it isn't a Lotus. When I collected our Elise several years later, that was my "I own a Lotus" emotional moment. ...though - for the very obvious reason of them being evolved from the original Lotus 7 S3's DNA - the o...

Re: British GP - Friday parking advice please
Just to close the loop on this: Using the official car park we drove straight in, zero queueing, at 0830 and parked approx 100m from the circuit entrance gate by Woodcote. Traffic just was not an issue at all. Could not have been easier... and very pleased didn't give ourselves a needless 2 mile wal...

Re: British GP - Friday parking advice please
I had been getting excited about taking our 2 to F1 for the first time. Fairly soon I'd hoped. But I'm just not so sure any more. I think the magic may have gone from the series. Silverstone 2008 was my one and only. It was very good [emoji41] I hear what you're saying, and know how I fondly recall...

Re: British GP - Friday parking advice please
I parked at Circuit last year at WEC round, of course that event was a lot quieter than GP weekend. Will be going again this August to see Alonso and Toyota. imho far better value than F1, less crowds, free access to most grandstands etc . Good shout :thumbsup ....the last 1000km (IIRC 6hrs nowaday...

Re: British GP - Friday parking advice please
Thanks for input, all. Following more googling, bit the bullet and chosen circuit parking. We camped and walked in. Great option. Maybe not this year tho?! Tempting to camp next year (1988 was the last time I camped the weekend, "where do the years go?", etc  ) as it'll be the last year he's ...

Re: British GP - Friday parking advice please
It’s many years since I was there but Silverstone school was where we used - much cheaper than other options (at that time) & was good for a quick exit on busier race days. On the Friday, traffic won’t be as much of an issue so I would be tempted to go with circuit parking if it’s not too expensive...

British GP - Friday parking advice please
A bit last minute, but looking at taking my son (9) to witness F1 on the Friday ....tickets too rich for weekend, and him first-time witnessing the cars with (slightly less manic crowds) is the primary goal :thumbsup So having not been since a 1990 Friday (!) I’m clueless when confronted with the ar...
