Re: Battleship on the Clyde
The Tuxedo Princess was on Broomielaw in the 80s/90s. Had a nightclub on it, and was known affectionately as The Battle Ship because of the amount of fights between patrons. I believe it went to Newcastle? The Glenlee is the Tall Ship outside Riverside Museum (the new transport museum). Navy ships u...

Re: Art School Fire
Library is lost, but archive has survived. The fire service have posted a pic of the upper gallery (above the central stairs) and it looks pretty much fine, save for light smoke damage and some water damage coming in from ceiling. The picture (on BBC news page) of the library is heartbreaking. Again ...

Whisky Tour of Scotland
I have a work colleague who wants to take her husband on a tour of Scotland to visit some whisky distilleries. He's into whisky, she isn't - she's more into the scenery and decent places to stay. Has anyone done a tour like this? Don't think there's much restriction on time or budget - just a balanc...

I just did the tweet thing. They are looking for 3000 tweets before they 'unlock' the passes, and have 280 or so to go, so any tweeters out there please go ahead...

Not exactly as billed, but all I could find: http://airportscarhire.com/United-Kingdom-car-rental/Isle-Of-Man-Airport-car-hire/rent-a-Exotic-Car-in-Isle-Of-Man-Airport My parents live in IoM and I took the Elise last visit, but probably wouldn't bother again. TT circuit road is fairly smooth and int...

Re: American Court Funnies
Its a very old one, but Mae West was arrested for public indecency for the script she'd written for one of her plays. During the whole court appearance she was wisecracking. When the judge asked her: "Are you showing contempt for the court?"
She looked at him and replied "No, I'm trying to hide it."

Re: Planning advice
If the planning permission hasn't been granted and you are still with a shout at representation it would probably be better to object as a group (not an individual). If you have a resident's committee or something like that, and all agree about the development it may carry more weight. I also wouldn...

Schumacher announces retirement
According to Jake Humphrey tweet Michael Schumacher has retired. Maybe he just had nowhere to go. So will there be any other 'musical chairs'? Sauber at least need to replace Perez. I would personally get rid of Massa, but Ferrari seem to favour one (expensive) top driver and another (cheaper one) j...
