Re: Thoughts on property prices

Useful thoughts Robin, appreciated, & financial advice is next step. I see property as a safer bet in that I will be purchasing outright so non occupancy and crash in value doesn’t pose a risk other than upkeep. The downside is it’s not easily cashed in if the need arises whereas stocks can be sold ...

Re: Thoughts on property prices

I think I am more comfortable with something tangible that is always going to have a value and in the meantime provides a monthly cash return.
I have dabbled in shares but there is a risk of total collapse, and the money invested is effectively my pension so I can’t afford to loose it all.

Re: Thoughts on property prices

To respond to some of the other points: It is expected to be a long term investment I have time to invest in running of any property as I am now semi retired. Property is to boost my pension & part time work income so a steady rental amount is the ideal (& has to be better than current interest retu...

Thoughts on property prices

I am now in the fortunate position to be looking to invest in some rental properties. I was about to offer on a couple of local flats in January but a family bereavement meant I missed the closing date. There are a few other properties I viewed and was considering when the world imploded and viewing...

Better get round to taking the winter boots off now!
Or leave them on - it’ll be winter before we can get out and about again. (there is actually wintry weather forecast for this weekend so I wouldn’t rush)

Re: Hot Tub

We have had one since 2014. I never understood the appeal but now totally hooked. Normally quoted that they cost about about a £1 a day to run and seems to be fairly accurate. We have ours on 365 and I would expect to do water checks and adjustment 2-3 times a week ( only takes 5 mins). I wouldn’t g...

:love That looks to be in superb condition - Its an appreciating asset so unless you need to sell it’s worth keeping it as it’s better than money in the bank with current interest rates.

Disagree ref Scotland. It’s a fine country. Just need the appropriate clothing [emoji1303] You can wander around in wet gear thinking it's 'great' . . . meanwhile everybody else knows it isn't . . . it's sh*t . . . the UK including scotland is increasigly fcuk beyond belief, I detest living in this...

Re: Classic mini -NLC

No full pics of the inner sills but the bit you can see shows signs of rust, and door bottoms look like they are starting to go too. Then for the price you can’t expect it to be perfect.

Re: Covid-19 Lockdown

The main advise would be drive it before you buy it - they all drive differently. Both the ones I had were 2.2 petrol. The first was a W plate and drove superbly it had bucket seats (from an Alfa) and a small steering wheel but wouldn’t reach 50 on a flat road. I was using it as a winter hack to sav...

Re: Covid-19 Lockdown

Have you tried an S3 Landie George? I have had 2 and they are far inferior to a Defender to use as a road vehicle. Depending on engine, wheels and gearing you will struggle to do more than 60mph and that drops to 40 going uphill. I keep thinking I would like another but then drive one and change my ...
