Full beam shenanigans
Whilst driving along with my headlights on dip, any accelerating, braking or bumps in the road, with no help from me, my full beam is turned on and off repeatedly. While I didn't really care too much due to the mediocre lighting, the police pulled me over and asked why I was flashing at them and tol...

Re: Downpipe advice
Cool, so presumably you reckon that's the thing to go for? I saw it on PTP too but Larkspeed seem to be a fair bit cheaper. Did you order anything else with it or is all you need the pipe?

Downpipe advice
I've had my S2 K-series sitting at MMC for over 3 weeks now waiting for an exhaust downpipe to be fitted. Unfortunately they seem to be on back order so I have no way of telling how long it'll be before I can get my car back (MOT failure otherwise, so can't move it). I spoke to MMC this morning and ...

Re: Linux on home servers (FALC)
How is WHS at working with Macs ? Not tried it to be honest. Having said that, the shares use both uPNP (for streaming) and SMB (for file manipulation) and the admin interface is web-based so most functionality shouldn't be affected. Only issues I can think of would be the remote access and the bac...

Yep, I tried Tversity too but being deaf I need subtitles as well and the transcription was a bit of a faff with Tversity so I just transcribe when I er...legally obtain my films, most likely using same software as BiggestNizzy. You can save yourself the whole RAID configuration, a lot of hassle and...

Re: Linux on home servers (FALC)
REALLY not up for that Which is why is didn't suggest Ubuntu after you specified gui front end suitable for a moron who gets bored quickly as prerequisite... I've felt the pain of Linux too often. It's 'fun' if you can be bothered but most people these days want something that just works. One thing...

Re: Linux on home servers (FALC)
You could take a look at FreeNAS ( http://freenas.org/freenas ). Really light-weight but may not give you everything you want. For things like hassle free disk-mirroring for backup purposes you might be best shelling out for Windows Home Server although there are rumours of a new version based on Se...

Re: Software Development Opportunities?
Looking to expand our development team at an amazing rate at the moment. http://www.gfi.com/max Dundee based..... I didn't know GFI was based in Dundee, and that's handy as I usually go for Scottish suppliers where I can - keep the economy turning over etc. I was planning on implementing an email a...

Re: Servicing
That's good that MMC are still doing the special rates but it's still not much better than Ali's rates - £449 vs £460.
Think I might just go with the new head (depending on lead time)...
Then with a bit of driver training I might be able to keep up with my mate in his Fiesta ST

I have my 'C' service due which I'm sure you all know is the big pocket-emptier. Do MMC have any servicing deals on at the moment or should I just go with Ali again at SLS? Might go with Ali as last year he said he would do the C service and stage 1 big head upgrade for just cost of the upgrade... a...

Re: Police 'crackdown'
If the number plate had been knocked off 2 minutes beforehand would that have made a difference? Probably not. Even if I had said it happened 2 minutes ago I would have still been done for driving the car illegally regardless of whether I was aware it had come off or not. Sticking it in the front wi...

I tried the 'just' happened approach but that's when he launched into his crackdown speil. Standing outside the court now about to pay the fine... ah the wonders of Android.
Ta for the mounting suggestions, I'll try them out and see what works.

Police 'crackdown'
Got stopped this morning on Wallace street, Glasgow after coming off the Kingston Bridge. The policeman asked me if I knew why he had pulled me over and I suggested it might be to do with my front number plate, or rather lack of one. He confirmed my suspicions and then took my details and said he ha...

Re: Parking in Edinburgh (NLC)
You could always park in Marchmont or near the National Library of Scotland in the residential area near South Clerk Street past Newington and get a short taxi ride to the hotels - free parking as it's outside the controlled zone (check the signs to be sure on the street you're on).

I hear what you're saying about the heat. I took a ventilated jacket which acted I had hoped would keep me cool. But riding through the tunnels along the cote d'azur and into Northern Italy was the only thing that allowed me to keep cool. At one stage I was stuck in a traffic jam outside Genoa in 35...
