Re: My car sounds like a spitfire and drives like a minibus

Mine had a similar problem which Ali easily fixed. The engine was stuck in the high-cam setting so it runs really badly at any kind of low speed.

It was a cheap fix too, so don't panic!

Re: NLC Smart dent repairs in edinburgh

I've used Dentmaster ages ago. Lately I've a guy who works mainly in the trade, and found him to be excellent. His name is Charlie 07977 459 855, based in Bonnyrigg. He does the work for BMW Mercedes etc. Sure he'll be cheaper than Kwik Fit

Re: Intermittent but bad misfire - help!

Met Ali at SLS tonight. Very nice and helpful chap. So two codes apart from a misfire: P2647 and P2648 which are rocker arm actuator stuck on and control circuit low. Car will be going back. Thanks for your help again Robin

Re: Laser Blue S2 at Fairmilehead crossroads

Hmmm - maybe it wasn't me! The roof is off as much as possible - especially as I've a bad back at the mo and getting in with it on is murder!

I'll look out for you (in your car!)

Re: Intermittent but bad misfire - help!

Thanks Robin - read some of your posts and well impressed with your knowledge. Phoned Arnold Clark and to their credit they said they doubted they could fix it. 10/10 for honesty. Good news is the warranty can be used elsewhere so I'll see if I can get a garge to fix it as first port of call. Keep y...

Re: Intermittent but bad misfire - help!

Thanks Robin. I've not used an OBD and looking at buying one or worse making one (I've got the schematice know where I can get the bits) but probably would make sense to buy one. I've had a very kind offer of help - car has warranty so I'd prefer to use the dealer that sold me the car - and would pr...

Intermittent but bad misfire - help!

2004 Toyota 111R. 22,000 miles. Had the car a year, often doesn't pull cleanly from cold within yards of leaving the house, but has been running fine once it starts to warm up (ie within a few hundred yards of home). Now it runs cleanly some of the time, others like it is not firing on all cylinders...

Re: Rusty wheel bolts

Thanks but I'll pass on the covers (only beacuse I'd have to buy two sets...) Spent far too long last weekend sanding them, treating with kurust stuff and spraying them with chrome paint - £3.50 a tin from Halfrauds. Looks great but truly sad way to spend time not at work. Went for a run in t...

Rusty wheel bolts

I scrubbed the Elise at the weekend until it squeeked (I got a Meguiars polisher for my birthday and I'm very pleased with the result). The only thing letting it down now are the very rusty wheel bolts. Cleaned them up a bit previously but some of them have had it. I soaked some in Wonder Wheels and...
