Re: S1 Alternator change

To me it does sound like the most likely cause of the red battery light coming on is alternator related Graham.......... Have to agree with others that there's a lot of mostly Chinese pattern alternators out there now which don't seem to last anytime at all - Even some of the good brands of the past...

Re: Duratec the donkey

Agree as regards Duratec conversions Steve Williams knows these best - Unless Steve is pretty convinced the conversion you have been offered is a sound solution I think I would consider selling the Donkey, you should easily get your money back and buy something you want that's been loved a bit more ...

Re: Knockhill, was 27th March 2021 - now Saturday 8th May

Officially the guidance indicates no spectators with only drivers and passengers allowed and Knockhill currently check licenses and paperwork at the entry gate on arrival but recent experience at a few different trackdays / evenings is that once the event is underway the gate is often then left unma...

Re: Inlet manifold swop

After a bit of reading I need to change the 'O' rings on the injectors and fuel rail but otherwise it's a bolt on. Does anyone know if I can use standard 'o' rings or are they made of something different so they don't get eaten by the fuel. The last thing I want is a fuel leak over the exhaust. I w...

Re: Inlet manifold swop

I think that's probably about it - If you need any more bits from an aluminium plenum I could probably give them to you ok..... I have 2 aluminium plenums in the garage but have left my K running on the standard plastic plenum after Kiwi Rog reckoned that after rolling road tests standard K's tended...

Could you attach or e-mail some pics of your throttle cable from the locknuts at holding clamp beside throttle body and then cable going round the 'half moon' on the throttle body itself? Assuming you are running a standard Rover K series throttle body I could send you pics of my S1 throttle body an...

I hadn't heard about these changes - That all sounds a much better plan and a good way forward.

Re: Knockhill, Saturday 21st March 9-1

I also agree Steve It seems to me that the Governments clear advice is to avoid large social gatherings in order to minimise interactions and reduce the total numbers of people with Coronavirus at any one time to a level that the NHS have got the resources in place to give everyone that needs it all...

Re: Lotus Mode -E10 Compatible?

I have read some contradictions on whether the K Series Elises, Rovers & MG's are E10 Compatible or not. Land Rover have now confirmed that all petrol Land Rovers since 1996 including the K Series engined Freelander 1 are all E10 compatible so I would be surprised if the 1996 on K Series Land Rover ...

Re: Overheating donkey!

Sounds like it might also be worth seeing what results a compression test carried out when the engine is as close to 90 degrees as possible are. Probably worth wearing gloves and not as easy working on a well hot engine but careful use of the tools should avoid you getting burnt and by the sounds of...

Re: Overheating donkey!

Funny I was looking at pictures yesterday of your Elise with N3 TUT behind when Andy lent me it to take to Folembray a few years ago - Fond memories! Agree with the guys above my S1 Elise radiator fan does not kick in till well into the 90's and that's a pretty rare occurrence for me. Waterpump and ...

Re: LoT - Donington & Oulton - 28-29 Oct 2019

As already said good right up Steve!

Even though I only made it to the Oulton Trackday I'm so glad I did as it must be amongst the best tracks in the UK, there was a good SE contingent there in all sorts of kit and a great day weatherwise.

So much fun - awesome outing!

Re: LoT - Donington & Oulton - 28-29 Oct 2019

I've just agreed taking over Campbell's space at Oulton on Tuesday with Paul Golding and also going to use Campbell's room at Sandiways tomorrow night. Short outing but looking forward to getting the S1 back on track, especially Oulton! Sorry again you can't make it Campbell but thanks for your help...
