Re: Need a genius...or locksmith!
I thought I should update on this, having resolved the issue then gone on holiday. As several folk suggested, it required a manual lifting of the lock indicator on the door sill. One bent coat hanger with red lace from a compass tied on with slip-knot on the end (has to be red). Drop loop through wi...

Re: Need a genius...or locksmith!
Thanks all. Hadn't considered trying to physically pull up the latch from through the window. There's an indentation so that might work if I can get something attached through the window gap. I had another slightly crazy idea of trying to get the key in the ignition through the gap in the window and...

Need a genius...or locksmith!
Locked out of S2 - hoping someone has a good idea. Been tucked away in garage for winter on trickle charger. Fob will not open doors, just getting a slight movement of latches. Fairly certain the CDL module needs replaced but can't get into car. As it was locked with the fob, the keys don't unlock t...

Re: Starter Motor?
Not sure what exactly caused the ECU to go but it was linked to battery change after inactive winter.
I'll maybe give Craig a ring and see what he suggests...

Re: Starter Motor?
Robin, got back quite late and read this. I really appreciate the offer of coming over but I'm in way down the A7 so not exactly convenient from Edinburgh. Had a thought though. Is it possible that the solenoid gave up during starting, leaving the starter connected to engine? That would presumably r...

Re: Starter Motor?
Ok, tested starter motor as described. Nothing happened. How hard is it to remove and re-fit new starter? Can it be done from top of engine bay? If not, might be in a pickle not being able to start the car to drive it to MMC??

Starter Motor?
Does anyone know if a failed starter motor makes a bad noise while the engine is running? Stopped to fuel up earlier, started back up, engine hesitated to start but got going. Immediately noticed a noise. Thought I had a crack in exhaust. Noise got worse over 15 min drive home - like a snare drum in...

Damper
Just got my 111s back on the road after many many months of ECU pain and expense. (Thanks Robin and Craig for help). Anyway, that's the good news. The bad news is the front left damper bled to death on the drive home. Have ordered a set of Bilstein dampers and springs for the front corners but appar...
Re: ECU Fried
Emgine was turning over and just revving up and down continually. Dd the car start?? If so, fluctuating idle revs are a classic symptom of a low battery voltage. I have an S2 111S, and EU3 Rover VVC ECU available if you need to test something (rover ecu needs immobiliser bypass to work though) and ...
Re: ECU Fried
Thanks for the advice. It's been a bit of a saga. Tried quite a few things on advice of a well respected lotus mechanic. Including changing IACV which made no difference. Then found 80A fuse had blown on the leg. Emgine was turning over and just revving up and down continually. Mechanic came to hous...
ECU Fried
Assuming my ECU is a write off ('05 111S K-Series) what are my options for getting back on the road? Can I buy a new one, plug it in and drive off? Or will there be mapping etc required which I have no clue about?
