Re: Brake Nipple removal ?
Can anyone recommend someone to remove siezed brake nipples ? Ideally Glasgow area or central belt or somewhere that does it via post ? Don't want to risk calipers being damaged. if your talking front caliper (ali 2 pot) heat is your friend. empty out all the fluid, remove pistons and seals, then h...

Re: How a Prius transmission works
2 questions, Simon: 1. Which mechs are used by other hybrids? 2. how do F1 cars implement it? Toyota seem to used basically the same concept on all their hybrids, the bigger ones used a different cvt but essentially the same layout. Honda use a single mgu on the gearbox shaft, not sure what Hyundai...

Re: How a Prius transmission works
Thanks Paul, found the 25 minute Prius one genuinely intriguing. Such clever stuff going on in there. it is until you realize it's simply obsolete already.. inordinately complex system to hang onto the IC engine direct coupling. Simply put, they should have gone the EV with range extender direction...

Re: The end of coal
The pumping of water to the top is pretty err damn inefficient ;) As you say, flywheels, or grid batteries are the solution. It's a real shame that Scotland imported lots and lots of wind turbines in the last decade or so rather than invest in building a Scottish industry with expertise looking at ...

Re: Has anybody changed their vote about independence??
Hope this is balanced and adds to the debate. I guess all i am looking for, like most other people, is some simple, honest, truths and answers to some fairly fundamental questions so that I can make an informed decision. As I'm not getting these, my plan is to move out of harms way and sell up. If ...

Re: Has anybody changed their vote about independence??
I always like to think about these things by fast forwarding myself 3 years into the future where everything. Has either gone to sh*t. So Scotland stays and brexit goes to sh*t, what will life be like in Scotland? Or Scotland leaves and independence goes to sh*t, what will life be like in Scotland?...

Re: New Elise Sprint
LOL!
Lotus reduced to quoting dry weights now?
and just to recap, it's new 1.6 engine is 134Bhp and 118Lbft.
So, compared to the 1996 S1 with it's 1.8K engine, it's +100Kg's (14%+) heavier, +16Bhp, -4Lbft, and £37,300 (+19,300)
and yes, I am a grumpy old man these days....

Re: Has anybody changed their vote about independence??
I belive you may of quoted the relevant clue as to my thoughts about only scottish people can make the right choices for Scottish people OK, not trying to argue that non-Scott's having a vote (although one could argue the rest of the UK should have a say?) but the question of who's opinions are val...
