Thanks Paul, found the 25 minute Prius one genuinely intriguing. Such clever stuff going on in there. it is until you realize it's simply obsolete already.. inordinately complex system to hang onto the IC engine direct coupling. Simply put, they should have gone the EV with range extender direction...

The pumping of water to the top is pretty err damn inefficient ;) As you say, flywheels, or grid batteries are the solution. So, compared to the 1996 S1 with it's 1.8K engine, it's +100Kg's (14%+) heavier, +16Bhp, -4Lbft, and £37,300 (+19,300)
