Re: Watch lovers?

Now I know Tapatalk can host photos I’ll add to this thread. Going back a couple of years for these two additions, firstly for my wife’s 30th we made an effort to configure what we think is the perfect ladies watch, 31mm white gold datejust on jubilee with pink mother of pearl face and 10 diamond ma...

Re: Anyone bought a new car recently?

Fun car shopping has been postponed and I have my wife’s X5 now, with baby 2 inbound I bought a Ford Explorer for family duties, really great thing actually with a 10 speed auto, 6 seats, loads of tech and very comfortable, just a great family tool. Recognise it’s a pointless endorsement as they ar...

Re: Anyone bought a new car recently?

I’ve had a bit of garage movement in 2020: Had my M4 for 15 months and did what I wanted with it, full day on COTA was fun but the brakes lasted two and a half laps before having to back off for a lap which was frustrating. New Super Sports all round held up longer than the brakes. Stupid rule in th...

Re: Who sold their yellow S1 recently?

There used to be a chav looking S1 stored in Kartstart in Kirkcaldy with big aftermarket rear wing and purple/green kind of flip paint, I think it may have belonged to Craig Lockhart that used to own Kartstart.

Re: £100k garage

I almost did this 6 months ago when I moved to Houston, my $105k went on an 2016 M4 DCT for me and a 2016 V8 X5, because my wife obviously needs a 450hp twin turbo V8 for going to the shops... If I were in the UK with the approx. £20k leftover I would either buy a few seasons in club motorsport, Min...

I joined the M4 club last month as well, although it didn't replace a Lotus, it replaced my Smart car!

Re: The evora replacement

Very nice, I like that a lot, I've only been up close to an M2 once and loved how flared the arches were. The E46 M3's I had are now 15 years old but when driving them back to back with a normal E46 they felt a lot more special than just a fast E46, I hope BMW have kept that step between their prope...

Re: The Grand Tour, Jim Clark

Agreed, it was a good watch. Although I listened to a podcast with Derek Bell recently (Dinner with Racers) and he told the story that the cause of the accident he believed was most likely due to a misfire, not a deflation of the left rear tyre. Bell was in that race but retired some laps before, he...

Re: Edinburgh property purchase/letting

So it appears Airbnb will soon be dead in Scotland - https://www.commonspace.scot/articles/13457/airbnb-set-be-regulated-short-term-lets-amendment-planning-bill-goes-through Once this bill goes through you'll need planning permission if you're letting your place out for holiday lets, which will pre...

Re: Donninton and Oulten October

I prefer Oulton to Donnington although I drove both in full dry. Oulton from where Kinger had his moment round to the first corner has a mini Nurburgring feeling to it with very little run off or room to get it wrong, lifting and braking for druids while turning left over the brow of the hill high i...

Re: Edinburgh property purchase/letting

Thanks for the comments so far, appreciate the insights and first-hand experience. I’m aware it’s a fairly saturated market, having spoken with an agent they advise also 50-75% occupancy is average which is in line with Neil’s place. One of the main eye-openers has been the rate of tax and number of...
