Clubman would be fwd only at that budget (previously mentioned Paceman if you want 4wd).
Focus on winters would be the answer if going fwd.

Pistonheads parameter search including 4wd shows lots of old Audi TT and newer Panda 4x4. MINI Paceman might be an option. https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/search?drive-train=AWD&price=4000&price=6000&seats=4&year=2010&year=2025 FWD with winter tyres would be fine in most conditions which opens out l...

Re: Any information on this 2016 Elise 1.6?
CR was lighter and a smidge cheaper originally. Not sure if that would make it more desirable? I guess CR is a bit more of a pure driving experience but less usable (with no aircon or stereo etc.).

Basically cheating in the game of computing average speed in your head as you go...
Ok, stuck behind that overtaking truck at 50mph for 60 seconds means we can have 20 seconds at 110...

Re: Cleaner brake pads.
I've not tried them but Ferodo DS2500 are supposedly good on the road (consistent, cold feel etc) and one of the least for dust?
I heard Mintex 1144 were 'dusty AF'.

Re: Blanket 50mph speed limit proposal on SE roads
There is a pretty good case for upping the HGV limits, it would at least allow them to be legal at the speed the majority already do. "In April 2015 in England, the speed limits for goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes was increased from: 40mph to 50mph on single carriageways 50mph to 60mph on dual carria...
