Re: Interesting insurance concept

It says that the 25% fee covers the admin and also a "what if" the pool runs out of money. I guess that the massive amount of data whoever came up with the idea has looked at takes all of these types of things into account, and maybe small groups can be worked out this way. How many of SE have had i...

I'm really enjoying the E class I bought earlier this year, especially the 500bhp aspect. Hugely useful estate. I'm sure we should have all bought skodas.

Re: The new MOT history check website is live

That site has been about for a few years now JJ. No way Mike, a serial car buyer like you you should know that's not right  It's been possible to check MOT history before online but not with just the number plate and the make. You had to have the V5 or MOT number before, meaning you couldn't j...

Re: The new MOT history check website is live

N3 works fine for me. Mentions your wheel arch liners. Checking various cars for sale also yields some interesting results, big thread on pistonheads as well has also thrown up some interesting ones - m3 with a fail for the cracked subframe being sold as with MOT as an example. Definitely helps with...

The new MOT history check website is live

Seems the powers that be are continuing the simplifying of some motoring related tasks - the new plate retention online service is excellent as is this MOT check site; https://mot-history.net Checked a load of my old cars, most still going and some surprises (My old S2 exige is on over 100k miles).

Burglar alarm help...

Previously VXJon sorted out some alarm bits at work for me, but I've just called his mobile and the person that answered told me he is in another country.

So, does anyone have a recommendation for someone who can do a system near Paisley?

Re: Merc 450 SLC

I would take it to Merparts in Port Glasgow. Repair of these can be pretty scary. Mechanically they aren't that complex but parts have gone really costly; mine needed wishbones and some callipers when I got it and it was a bit of money. If its been outside I would expect the bulkhead to be shot. The...

Re: Elise S1 - 3D Cad model

Maybe better to try and a find a cad model of a car that is more valuable. I can't see any s1 owners spending 10% of the value of their car on a model of one made out of a chunk of metal. A 250gto owner on the other hand...

Re: Anyone got a banger

I just did a business lease on an UP! and it was ludicrously cheap - £102+vat a month, 3 year term with 15k miles and £600+vat deposit. I drove one a few years ago and as above it was quite a nice wee car. A red one was going to be £92+vat a month but wanted white as company logo is black.

I played it a few times in competitions (back when I used to be good at golf  ) and always enjoyed it; also it was our home course for the Uni golf team.

Re: Sat Nav Recommendations

I'm happy knowing I've always got my sat nav, it's one less thing to pack/forget. Each to their own, though. Agreed, I even managed to find a free state-by-state app that was completely offline for a trip to the US at christmas. Had it been a standalone tomtom I am sure it would not have been as ea...

Re: Help required

The domain name was registered yesterday so they must have setup the business pretty speedy. It all looks scammy, especially the use of the AutoTrader name and logo. Edit; and here is the scam part. Of course you will return it at the appointment, which you won't turn up for. ''9.a Our Fees ht...

Re: How to Value a Cat D 370z?

I would only entertain a CatD if it was a car that I bought damaged and fixed or had fixed myself. Like Mike did with that blue Elise. Then you know the story and can properly document it and it will still be sellable. Cars like that 370z just don't add up, say when it was damaged it was a £25k car ...

Passed about half a dozen Lancia Stratoses (Stratii?) at the Kincardine Bridge yesterday. Probably all reps but they looked awesome.
