adjust the nuts on the end of the cable (that were not properly tightened by the person that fitted it) so that the throttle fully closes, but only just . . . there should be almost no slack in the cable.

Don't induce any twist in the cable itself when locking the nuts . . .

Re: HT Ignition Leads

Series resistance (in the lead or in the plug itself) dramatically reduces RF noise (as robin said) but also helps manage wear on the plug electrode.

Neither may matter, but both could cause problems . . .

Re: Are track days all you do in your Lotus then?

Each to their own, but track days were from the 2000's, for me driving pointlessly round in circles is boring unless there is a fairly sharp point to it. Road driving these days is not like it was 20 years ago, so many a$$hole nimbys about, so any driving needs to be on the QT, stealthy, catch them ...

Re: Driving to Morocco??

Harry's trip look amazing, Tim life is to short just go for it, even with any hassle it all adds to the memory. Maybe I am a bit blasé about it as I work in Africa which has helped redefine my perception of dodgy but what the hell it would be a brilliant trip to do and certainly more out of the ord...

Re: Anyone out there?

Lots of false info floating around . . . Pork Taycan battery capacity is ~<90kWh, tesla3 is ~>75kWh so they are not dramatically different, the problem, and back to my original point, is that you can't use it on the supercharger network (which is the only high speed widely distributed network availa...

Re: Anyone out there?

Hydrogen distribution network is some tanks at 'petrol' stations, the stations already exist, and some trucks to deliver it, which already exist . . . it's a somewhat proven model where all the expensive and difficult to scale parts basically already exist. Compare this to the BEV charging infrastu...

Re: Caterham K or Sigma

Nothing wrong with a K series, I ran a 1.6 Roadsport A with about 145bhp as a track/competition car for a good few years, the engine was brilliant (better than the 1.8 I think). I used to take that car to KH and drive it for a solid 4 hours at a time changing gear on the limiter every gear change, t...

K series sports cat

Minimal use sports cat for K series Elise. Bought some time ago and used for about 10K miles on my PTP165 car, changed to standard cat and large silencer as I am old and have wrecked hearing. Has probably done about 10K miles on the car, the PTP165 scraped through emissions no better on a standard c...

Re: 200BHP, 266lbft, 77 kg, engine & transmission

Robin, you watched the same video I did ;-) . . . I the early '90s I worked on the TMST (first gen Eurostar) traction power electronics and control systems . . . 16 megawatts of motive power, 20 megawatts of total power, the traction motors were a ~ cubic meter each and there were 12 of them. A very...

Re: Tut the Legend

I met Tut for the first time in person on a run from Skye to Ullapool and somewhere thereafter at significant Tuts, I forget the route, what I do remember was the tyre smoke of aborted overtakes, the high speed shenanigans which were a part of road run driving at the time on stunning Scottish roads ...

Re: Europa Insurance

Just moved from Aviva to Henderson Taylor on cost reasons. Mods, track cover, multiple drivers no hassle whatsoever for my S1 and a completely hassle free experience. Not sure I'll use much track cover but you never know. So much less hassle than every other company I called . . .

Re: Walkie Talkies

Slightly off topic, but still about transmitters and receivers... We have a bit of a first world problem. The aerial for our remote control electric gates on our drive way is not ideally located, in as much as it works great from inside the gates, but less so from outside. The aerial is mounted on ...

Re: Feedback Wanted

Look at the point you get to full throttle in the corner. You're basically only at full throttle way after the apex. That's far too late if you want to go fast. When you learn to go into the corner faster the car will understeer, to counter that understeer you need to trail brake a little and contro...
