Re: Elise S1 elise s1 cobra 6019hf alarm/immobiliser issue

As a bonus the new cobra alarm doesn't drain the battery

Re: Elise S1 elise s1 cobra 6019hf alarm/immobiliser issue

The siren and the immobiliser are separate.
Worth looking at the nicads regardless as they are probably shot and will destroy the siren.
Poor design as they are above the PCB and drip acid onto the gubbins.

Re: Elise S1 elise s1 cobra 6019hf alarm/immobiliser issue

I had this, turned out that the immobilizer had given up the ghost. I ended up with the car going to Craig on a yellow taxi with the option of permanent bypass or a new alarm. I opted for a new alarm.

Re: Heatproof material on the bulkhead

I believe you but I had no problems.
The main problem I have had with the alternator is it rusting solid. Folk keep blaming the heat but I'm convinced it's the Scottish rain!

Re: Heatproof material on the bulkhead

I have manifold and alternator heat shield templates for nimbus if you are planning to make some.

Re: Heatproof material on the bulkhead

As Dom says. With the clam off there are lots of other things you can do at the same time.

Re: Lucky Escape.. Engine hydraulic!

Mine did exactly the same as yours. Difficult to start then went a couple of times, but then it hydraulic locked and seriously bent a con rod and just kissed the underside of the liner. A bit of machining and a new liner sorted it. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180819/a2b2edd0820eaaef092f52a6b3...

Re: I'm going to get the elise back on the road

The alternator tents to have the rotor and stator corrode together. Stick it in a vice and see if it will turn using a breaker bar on the shaft nut.

Re: Lucky Escape.. Engine hydraulic!

Mine bent a con rod last year. Apparently the cause was a failed inlet manifold gasket allowing rain water to dribble into the cylinder.
Currently dealing with the garage who have still not completed the repair but are keen to issue demands for payment despite having had a healthy interim payment.

Re: K series rebuild

The engine hydraliced and needed a new piston and con rod and liner. Other than that the job has been rear clam off, engine out, rebuild with new gaskets etc
I haven't upgraded anything.
Currently asking for £3000 but the car is not back on the road yet.

K series rebuild

Hi,
Looking for indications as to what an engine out, rebuild and re install should cost. The cost suggested by my garage seems steep but wanting a sense check before I push back in case it's just me being tight.

Thanks

Should be ok but will need to be fire retardant which rules out windows.
