Re: S3 Elise Light Upgrades
Not personal recommendation as I've not had opportunity to try yet, but are there not now super bright LED options that fit in place of standard bulbs? Would deffo be investigating these (speaking as a bloke who melted light connectors using rally bulbs back in my S1 days)

Re: Interested in an Evora
Yep - we recently went through the process of trying to find a replacement for it, for our use, but really didn't come up with anything that ticks the boxes it does so comprehensively and could be anywhere near budget. Pennies to maintain, proper stop and stare looks for most folks, comfortable, qui...

Re: Takata Airbag recall
Apparently My X5 is affected, not a peep from BMW. I’ve had a few Subaru’s and the dealer was probably the best experience I’ve had from a car dealer. S and S Services Ayr. My dear old Mum worked for them for years in the office - back when they were in Mossblown. A challenging pair of chaps to wor...

Re: Danish Audiophiles
Yeah, bit of an 80s B&O fetish here... Beosystem 4500 in the dining room as a lovely sideboard topper (Elaine constantly unimpressed) running a pair of CX100s on the mantelpiece. Beosystem 5005 in the snug with a set of BeoVox RL 60.2 speakers. Right combo of audio performance and stunning looks for...

Re: BMW i3
80% in 30 min at a dc rapid charge station Assuming the one you're planning on using is working that day. Seems to be a bugbear that the networks are up and down like a tarts knickers. Not massive if you're commuting around a city, but limits desire in more rural locales... A mate of mine used to r...

Re: Any late model S2 owners?
Indeedy - when somebody just posts S2, I think Elise... Odd one, never realised that I mentally do that.

Re: Any late model S2 owners?
I'm never sure about the S2/S3 thing. S3 seems just to have been the headlights changing, with the usual annual or semi annual round of minor upgrades - doesn't really represent a model change to me... The S2 underwent constant evolution - to the point that I bet the difference between a "late" S2 a...

Re: Newbie - Indecisive!
Long box on NA is an interesting debate. Lovely for touring. 1-3 were plenty for the limited backroad stuff I did. I see Shug's point tho. 100% a personal choice thing mate - totally agree. The long 6th is great that you can coax it well into the mid thirties on a long run. It's the fact that the r...

Re: Newbie - Indecisive!
That’s handy!! Aye Craig was great, told me what to look out for and to get on the phone to him if there was anything I was unsure of whilst I was there! Only unknown quantity really is brake and tyre life, could be good or bad I guess depending on how the previous owners drove! Surely should be so...

Re: Newbie - Indecisive!
Yep, agree an NA would be fine *as long as* it has a c/r gearbox. The 'long' box is what lets Elaine's down. Basically 3 usable gears when trying to press on, on Lotus-y roads. I appreciate others views differ here, but the longer I use that gearbox, the more I hate it. But if you're after an S, the...

Re: SE Layout Update & Newbie Helpful Links
Cheers Steve, good nudge. Very guilty of not maintaining and refreshing bits and bobs - so lets see this thread run a wee bit to get some feedback that can be acted on. Not saying we will or can do every single suggestion that crops up, but certainly as you point out, there's some housekeeping despe...

Re: Guess it makes sense - Police Eye Tests
It's a particular bee in the missus' bonnet (she's an optician) and trust me, the stats do support the severity.
About f*cking time IMO.
